The few jobs what weren't made redundant at my place were TUPE'd to IBM, there was quite a bit of competition to get the package
I went for TUPE for a few years, deliberately didn't go over to the full IBM position because everything stayed the same except I kept the extra days off (Civil Service ). Then I really got to breaking point, hated it so much I could see myself going postal. Went to resign, then redundancies came up again Surprisingly not that many people went for it as it was a bit of a mess with the union not being bothered to sort anything out, then they saw how much I was getting and kicked themselves. Heehee!

Is big blue really that bad to work for? i would have thought a company that big would look after its employee's. Now thinking about it, they just want money!
Depends on what part of IBM you work for. I was a manager for Global Services for most of my stay with big blue. Treated us allright and heaped a ton of bucks on the table for early retirement. Other orgs within IBM just terminate and give nothing. For the last 6 yrs. there, I worked from home managing 16 System Admins from every timezone in US. IBM gets more than 40 hrs. whenever they can. I was on call 24/7 365 days/yr. for 6 yrs. When the retirement offer came my lady/wife Marilyn said go for it. John
