Looks pretty incredible to me. I am really hoping that with so many developers onboard and optomising the newest titles to use this technology will usher in a new era of PC gaming and get out of the current funk of letting consoles take over at the game stores.

What slot does it use? One of the many spare PCI-E slots I have?

It always seems that when some new physics engine comes out, it looks like there is a lack of gravity.

Anyone else see that, or just me?

TBH the physics wasn't very impressive to me, some of it looked cool like the plane crashing in the hangar but when the guy was running around shooting the plane and whole chunks went flying off. Bombs bouncing off railings like bouncy balls.

I suppose it's all down to how the developers utilise it really, but I was expecting more from a demonstation of it's power. Not a demonstration of what's doable already.

here in lies the problem, how will developers be able to fully utilize this? as physics to a larger extent than graphics will effect gameplay, if joe blow with ppu destroys a tank and sends shrapnel everywhere will the people who can't even render it be able to get hit by the flaming chunkies. Do you think developers will start forcing you to play a game with a required ppu.

I guess the best analogy is like old cs 1.6 where if you didn't have the processing power, or where cheap you would turn down the smoke detail so it was much easier to see someone through it. I could see situations where you would want to turn down or up the physics detail to hit someone easier or what not in a multiplayer game. am I making sense?

I see your point. I guess the only real solution to this problem would be to have servers that force you to use PPU and others that don't.

The pitfall with this is that it is going to cost companies that have game servers twice us much, and with the no doubt limited number of players with a PPU I can't imagine it being long before the 'ppu' servers were closed.
