A good tool is not only important when working with aluminum, but it's much more important to take your time!
A small update to the koolance-370 waterblock, which was not designed to fit on the 1700 socket. 3mm alu plate china mb + 13600kf
The board is surprisingly low on text for Chinese kit. Usually they label stuff up like Adam West Batman. -Guy that owns a Chinese folding knife that has "beauty folding knife" etched on it.
Sometimes there is a desire to do something, even when you don't want to do anything! Today is that day! Display frame. Stranger things, everything is going according to plan! I have no idea how I will attach the display frame... glue?
Is there any bevel around the display that could be drilled etc for fixings? If not could try one of the mobile phone adhesives like b7000 or e6000 - seems to be very popular for glueing in phone displays/crafts and glueing tricky materials etc and has a bit of flexibility when dried so maybe a decent choice for a display on a hinged door where there's probably going to be a bit of flex when opening the door. Looking good btw!
I'd go with a strong glue, or a clamping frame that attaches from the rear. Really intrigued by the use of a router on alu. What kind of bit are you using? Shouldn't be surprised really, given a lot of people use palm routers as CNC spindles for basic DIY setups.
I had thoughts of using contact glue or bf-2 glue... I hope it doesn't come to that! "2 flutes spiral compression router bit for alu" Made in UK. Dont know how its true. The main thing is that it cuts decently! I've seen a lot of projects where people make a diy machine into something similar to an industrial machine, with the right precision! I think it's great!
Very impressive work on aluminium, your project is the kind I love to follow, I'm still amazed to see what can be done with a router...patience and accuracy
