Ok so yesterday i was gazzing at my tower (antec 1200 v3) while planning a major mod and it dawned on me....

Why is it that my vid card exhaust seems to blow to the front of the case and not the rear?

this seems a little odd to me as almost every case ive encountered over the last 6 yr of pc work has an front to rear airflow.

i figured ok theres gotta be an explanation to this. to google i went. perhaps i havent asked the proper question so i figure i come here n see if the mod gods, airflow gurus and the such would have an inkling of how to answer that question.

    So to recap

Why the bloomin hek do all vid cards blow rear to front when all cases blow front to rear???? :wallbash:

I was under the impression vapor chamber style coolers (Such as EVGA) had the intake in the case and exhausted out the rear of the case.
I've never owned a vapor chamber card though, as Gigabyte makes some great GPU's.

For optimal airflow, you want the following.
    Front: Intake
    Side: Intake
    Bottom: Intake
Rear: Exhaust if horizontal tower cooler, exhaust or empty if vertical tower cooler
    Top: Exhaust

The side intake puts fresh air directly on the graphics card and northbridge.
Cooler northbridge = easier stable overclocks.

to be more specific the vid card i have is the powercolor hd6770. the plastic air duct on the card looks as though it blows to the front. Is this actually an intake cuz it shure looks like an exhaust

The fans almost always pull air toward the video card, leaving air to exhaust out the rear of the case (See EVGA GTX 670 for reference) or to leak out the side of the graphics card or out the rear (Compare lower end Gigabyte graphics cards to higher end Gigabyte graphics cards).
