OK you guys already know I have a Powerbook. Its linked up to my network through the Airport. The router is a Netgear DG834GT. My problem is this. When I try to print a document off the mac to one of my printers (attached to a laptop running XP) it prints out page after page of code. I don't know if the actual document prints after that, because I have always stopped it to stop wasting all my paper. At first it would not print at all, but that was because of the firewall my dad had just installed and not configured properly. I tried printing via the other printer attached to my PC also running XP, but it does not recognise that the printer is there. Any help? (I posted in here cause its all fine with windows PCs) Edit: (OK now its not OK with the other PC. Both print the same code. However, The mac still won't recognise my PC on the network, so I cant test this printer with it. )
Your XP lappie has printer sharing turned on, right? (sorry to go back to basics, but it's best to dot the eyes and cross the tees ) Drivers are upto date on the XP machine? Cups / Gimp printing is working correctly on the PB? You can see the printer when you attempt to add it in the System Prefs -> Printers -> Add Printer (Choose windows printing and select your brand of printer)?
It might actuall not be the mac, as it has just started printing the same stuff from my PC now. Sharing is on, and I can see it through the other PCs. EDIT: OK, it is the mac. The other PCs are fine and print to each others printers. The printer on the lappy (Epson Stylus C62) prints out a ****load of code when sending documents from the mac, while my printer on my PC (HP deskjet 940c) prints out a lot of blank pages, then starts to print a different code. Help!!
Are they native Postscript compatible printers? Macs print to postscript and some printers only have emulators or do not support postscript. Could be why your getting code...just a quess mind you.
