They aren't metal. The BBs used aren't actually ball bearings. They are made from a biodegradable plastic, which is kind to the environment :thumb:

They are only 0.2g or 0.25g each. Other weights are available, like 0.33g and 0.43g but these are generally used in modified guns or sniper rifles. These are normally a graphite colour and look like they are made of metal. The heavier the BB, the greater accuracy but your distance is effected.

I'd *love* a proper replica sniper rifle that takes the .43+ bbs, that would be sooooooo quality.

    1000Yen! Bargin.

There a loads of sniper rifles available. Lots have tightened barrels factory fitted for greater accuracy. You can put a variable pitch 160% or 200% spring in them and the power is superb. The sniper on our team at the last skirmish I went to had modified his sniper rifle. You could hear his every shot flying past your head as he gave cover. Lucky he was on our team. He even had his ghillie suit and was very difficult to spot.

I'm really interested in getting involved in Airsoft but I wouldn't know where to begin with regards to events, equipment etc etc... Can you go along to an event as a total novice?

I've got about £500 to throw at it at the moment so any advice would be great :)

Yea, im starting to get interested too. Anybody got any links to CDN retailers online because i HIGHLY doubt they would allow one to get across the boarder without chargeing me $500 for customs.

Well, I went and got a POS airsoft gun today. My friend set up a place to have battles at his cousin's farm, so I'm going to go there next weekend.

Anyway, my gun is a Taurus Pt-something or another. It is really bad. It is clear, which is why my dad would let me buy it, and it only shoot ~145 FPS :eeek: It also only came with one magazine, and I couldn't find a place to get any more. I guess that once my dad trustes me, I'm going to get an Ingram and a bolt-action sniper... not AEG or Marui, of course :D

£500 will easily get you a submachinegun such as an MP5, with spare mags, batteries, plenty ammo, face protection, and some camo gear.

    My beretta arrived today

It's all stainless except for the slide which is plastic. It weighs 740g, which is only 235g less than the real gun. Very shiny, but the pics don't do it justice.

Gas blowback so it's got a nice kick :thumb:

And if anyone is interested in seeing the action of a gas blowback pistol...

How old are you? You only need to be 14 to use one but 17 to buy.

No idea how many shots it was, I was firing at nothing in particular.

Those age limits are UK. I'm not sure about Canada.

Gas is fun, because of the blowback effect. For a pistol you are better with gas as they are semi-auto. You can get a gas pistol that is non-blowback for around £50 in the UK. That's around $100 Canadian. Gas will be around $15-20 a can or something and ammo is inexpensive.

just find someone with an airsoft and borrow it. have your dad shoot you wearing a heavy coat (to compensate for distance). when you don't die, and you dad realizes how fun shooting other people is, i don't think you'll ahave a problem. :thumb:

PS if your realtionship with your parents is anything like mine, you'll have no problem getting your parents to shoot you :naughty:

PPS get an MP5K for close combat and a rifle of some sort for distance, I'd reccomend a PSG1 or a Model 700. do they make shotguns? i don't mean those candy ass single shots, but >50 pellets a shot? :naughty:

Oh yea, I forgot to take into account that we pay almost twice a much as the US and Canada. That is very reasonable for an M4A1.
