I thought we needed this...just post a brief word or two about any significant album you've bought recently and what you thought of it. Nothing to obscure please, I don't want a spam-trap or anything :) Brief comments are allowed as long as you review something else in the same post :thumb: Mods please remove if inappropriate

hmmmm, well based on the sort of people that browse this forum I reckon I might take a bit of liberty with the "nothing too obscure" rule, and post my review:

Take This To Your Grave - Fall Out Boy
    [IMG]
Bandwidth "borrowed" from Amazon.com - sure they can afford it!

Fall Out Boy's latest release (barring acoustic e.p.'s) is a well put together emotional punk rock album, taking influences from a variety of bands but adding enough to make this a stand out. The lyrics are some of the best I've heard, beautifully bittersweet and anthemic, and the instrumentation is solid. Whereas a lot of recent punk rock albums consist of a few hits dispersed amongst a load of derivative filler, Fall Out Boy's latest is consistently of a high standard, while tracks like Grand Theft Autumn and Sending Postcards from a Plane Crash provide instant interest.

All in all this album is a great purchase for anyone who wants to get "more" than bands like Busted or McFly but is a bit too scared of the heavier stuff...

Immense, crushing, beautiful. A different ball game to Godflesh entirely.

Not as Indie as I'd hoped for, very experimental with drums the main item in many of the songs. Takes a lot of ideas from recent artists like FF and Grahem Coxon. 7/10

Great Album, definately has hints of the Jam in there, retains a modern indy feel though and much more feel-good as opposed to depressing :p esp. you can have it all

    Depeche Mode - Remixes
Marmite, Rippled, Octagonal.. a veritable diesel transducer of symbiotic spacial double-V tones coupled with a revolving wash of flamboyant toasted sugar. Makes your ears feel like they're covered in glitter filled urine from a fairy taking speed anally whilst riding a unicycle over broken bottles of 1923 Chateau Lafite.

The Bravery album is pretty sweet. Just got it today. Dead superficial and rips off all sorts of other (better) artists, but is a damn good record to sing a long to.

    The Bravery(self-titled)
Synthesiser stands out, so breaks away from the all to common Guitar-Guitar-Bass-Drums format of lots of Indie bands today. Very catchy tunes that are easy to sing to, if not a bit camp at times, but still hints of FF more than any other band imo. Songs like 'give in' have a Whitesnake style intro, just to give you an idea of the combinations introduced. Unique, yet goes for the popularity-vote, and a band whos style should develop into its own in albums to come.
