Thanks for all the suggestions folks - have been looking at some of the reviews and some are fairly conclusively considered good tasting AF drinks... what a world we live in!

A lot of these look like they can be purchased from local supermarkets also so may get a selection and do a bit of a taste test! :)

    Will report back my findings

Estrella Damm and Heineken do a decent alcohol free beer.

    Got myself so far,

    Adnams Ghost Ship 0.5%
    Shipyard Low Tide 0.5%
    Lucky Saint
    Heineken 0%
    Erdinger Alkoholfrei

Had a few bottles of ghost ship last night and was pleasantly surprised. Would definitely pick that up again, good value too!. Got the others today so will give each a try of each over the coming days and see what is a winner!

Ghost Ship/ Shipyard are my 0.5% go-to with Becks Blue/ Peroni being the most refreshing 0%. I really like the Brooklyn Special Effects (0.4%)... quite hoppy and again... refreshing.

    For those who care…

    Adnams Ghost Ship 0.5%
Really enjoyed this one, could definitely sink 4-5 of these with a family roast or at a BBQ. Super good value as well for a 500ml bottle. Would recommend giving this a try if you’re into pale ale. Will be getting these going forward.

    Shipyard Low Tide 0.5%
Enjoyed, preferred ghost ship though, not totally sure why. Could imagine maybe having a few of each (ghost ship and low tide) to switch it up but wouldn’t want to drink more than a few of these together. Found the taste a bit uninteresting after a while.

    Lucky Saint

Loved it, you pay the premium per bottle but its super refreshing. I could drink this quite happily over most lagers I’d go for if it wasn’t so pricey for a 330ml bottle. It really didn’t last long when I got going, this wouldn’t definitely be my choice for alcohol free lager. Will be definitely getting these in the summer months for the family BBQs

    Heineken 0%

Wasn’t sold on the taste, it definitely felt like drinking a lager. I think a regular Heineken drinker would find this palatable. If given the option I’d pick most lagers over Heineken so that’s possibly why I wasn’t a big fan of the taste. Definitely had better flavour than a Becks blue though.

    Erdinger Alkoholfrei

Another good one, Enjoyed the taste overall. Affordable per bottle, would definitely keep a few on hand for something different. My partner even enjoyed a swig of this!

    Peroni 0%

Much like the Heineken wasn’t sold on the taste, I’m not a big peroni drinker again. Just was a bit uninteresting. £4 a pack though you can’t really argue.

Me and some friends went out to a restaurant and had a few beers, it wasn't until half way through the meal we realized it was a 0% beer as the place didn't have a license :eeek: we were drinking Brutal brewing's a shipful of IPA.

Nanny State is also my go to if I'm ever desig driver. It doesn't have the synthetic taste that some other low/no alc brews can. Very, very close in taste indeed.

Follow up from a little testing. Thanks for the write ups @DeadP1xels

I really liked this too, a hoppy cloudy lager that I could happily drink. Tesco have had it on special for £1 a bottle if you have a Clubcard.
Forgot to order more this week, happened to go into the local big Tesco and the low/zero alcohol beer shelves were heavily deplete. All I could find that I wanted were 2 Lucky Saints that had been 'misfiled' on another shelf - Lucky indeed!

    Adnams Ghost Ship 0.5%

Didn't enjoy this half as much, not my preference in beer. It was good and drinkable and another great low alcohol offering.

Need to try Heineken 0.0 again, having not had it for a while, it's a friend's favourite low alcohol lager.

My Dad is still happy with Becks Blue, which isn't bad.

I find the most, if not all of the fake ale smells like weed when you open them, and then just bloat you and give you horrific day after poops.

    Guinness. Lovely.

Had a couple of pints of Ringwood Forty Niners the other day - really enjoyed them. Definitely getting some more of that.

Guinness, big nope from me. Can't get into the stuff.
Ringwood 49er is a different matter, a great beer and brewed just up the A338.
From memory it's better draught than bottled, now regretting not picking up a couple in the shops earlier...
It's Amstel or Lucky Saint tonight

Had a big response typed out that has since been lost, but Flat Tire (sic) is decent, as is San Miguel 0.0% and Birra Moretti. And a second(ish) for Guinness.

Bizarrely, the Tanqueray 0% is also not too bad, if you don't know you're being served it.

I had a few Bud Zeros recently, and they're a very faithful reproduction of the original; that is it has an unusual but not unpleasant rice induced undertaste.

Thanks to my Pancreas trying to kill me last year, I had to spend at least 6 months off alcohol. I'd really got into having the odd rum & coke outside of an evening, so decided to try the alcohol-free spirits in the supermarket. Tesco had Strykk's Not R*m on a clubcard offer and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Obviously the alchol-free spirits have to be with a mixer, you can't drink them neat or they're just like slightly flavoured water. But mixing Not R*m with some Cherry Coke Zero, it definitely felt like drinking rum & coke (not a good rum sadly, but not a bad one either, the other downside is you can't make a "strong" one. It's there or it isn't). Also, it's sugar/calorie-free, especially with the Cherry Coke Zero!! I want to try an alcohol-free Amaretto next, but they're just so expensive considering they have no alcohol in them :blah:

[Edit]Ooh! I almost forgot, I also tried the R*m in a Virgin Jamaican Mule (R*m, Ginger Beer & a dash of lime). It was bloody lovely, though not calorie-free that time!
