Malf, I dont know it apperes they took the picture whne it was the middle of the day=no shadows. Plus if you look at the trees in the bottom left corner the shadow angle doesnt corospond. Arian, cause the water is acting like a mirror but instead of reflecting back sky it is absobing the blue(so to speak) and showing whats left....space.
That "cloud" thing looks to be just part of google maps. If you look at other places, when they don't have such a hi-res shot, it becomes all blurry like that when shown next to a hi-res part. I don't know why they wouldn't have a hi-res shot of JUST that little part, but that's what it looks like to me.
foxx, there are shadows in other parts of the photo (look at the buildings) and the shadow of the 'cloud' that Malfoleo does correspond at least to the direction of the other shadows. Plus did you just make up that explanation of the water acting like a mirror? Because it certainly sounds like it. When have you ever heard of water reflecting nothing but stars in broad daylight? It looks to me like the folks at area 51 have created some sort of space portal window thing.
if u want satalite photos of the uk, just go on multimap they've had aerial photos for quite a while now
As this fine shot of Mexborough's sewage farm shows: However, to see my humble abode in any detail I've got to pay for a high-res version. A company photoed the UK from the air (planes, not satellites), and sell the results. HM The Queen (God bless her) is a shareholder (well, it's her country).
Those aren't stars. The white points are reflections of light from the movement in the water. Not necessarily "waves," per se, but a smaller version. It can get very windy in that area of the US and the wind causes little peaks in the water. Malf, I'm still not too convinced that the shape is a cloud. I don't think the angle of the shadow lines up quite right. Having lived in West Texas for a number of years, it looks like typical farmland. Temporary lakes from rainfall, localized burning and other such things cause weird colors along the farmlands. The area you pointed out looks like such coloration. More interesting to me is this, in Washington D.C.: Clicky. A short distance to the East you can look right down on top of the White House. Next door, you can get up close and personal with the Pentagon. but this area is blurred. The oval shape suggests to me that it is purposely blurred. What could this be? The street names inside the oval make it seem like some kind of observatory. Likewise, the US Capitol is also blurred out. Hmm, aquick Google of "Observatory Circle Washington DC" comes up with the US Naval Observatory and the Vice President's residence, among others. Google Maps is so cool! -monkey
If that was wind blowing the water then why dont the lake thingies beside it have those little stars...wait that also cancels out my thery. EDIT: Weird...Can you tell the pictures were taken on 2 different days. http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=38.876839,-76.736927&spn=0.097160,0.147285&t=k&hl=en EDIT2: Funny the pentagon is the only thing smuged. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=penta...073,0.009205&sspn=0.006073,0.009205&t=k&hl=en EDIT3: I wonder if keyhole is fuzzed out also. *looks for old subscription*
I thought it said RSG RULZ, and google showed that RSG is rhythmic gymnastics (rsg.net). Anyone else think this? _C
thats the thing about satellites... if its has a high security value (like the white house or the capital bldg) the image will be edited... the us govt controls the skies
do u guys know if there is some kind of map program like this online which would show hong kong, would be interesting to see what my area looked like
