This is actually one of the most understated and undersold dangers in outer space.

For example, there’s so much ambient radiation around Jupiter that it could kill the astronauts.

When we’re talking speeds in a percentage of light speed, nuclear spallation is also a major issue. Not only do the ambient particles have the chance (higher chance the faster we go) to be converted into radioactive unstable particles due to the kinetic impact, the hull of the spaceship itself could suffer from spallation. Or lesser effects than full spallation which can still cause radioactive particles to form and cook the occupants. This is less of an issue for our trips to the moon and such, but when we’re talking 5-10% of light speed then it’s a death sentence without shielding.

Much of the dangerous ambient radiation is from particles that Jupiter attracts with it’s gravity and accelerates to dangerous speeds causing this to happen.

So in terms of practical science, even if we could power the engine, we’re also going to need radiation shielding or dust screens which can scoop aside these particles and prevent them becoming radioactive.

My brother happens to study the culture and history of the occult and high strange phenomena (including UFO's). He has written a number of books, published in Fortean Times, appeared on TV shows and radio interviews etc. and his personal book collection is officially listed in the Netherlands as a private library of exceptional national cultural value.

He says Bob Lazar is a fraud. In fact most UFO personalities are either frauds or delusional (but mostly frauds). Most UFO lore is unsubstantiated tall tales and old rehashed ideas churned over by a cynical money making cottage industry of personalities who actually have no historical or cultural knowledge of the subject at all. They make **** up; they are full of historical inaccuracies. They are best ignored altogether.

I remember a story went round about a paper on the potential reality of warp fields. According to the paper it's an actual possibility to create a warp field that would allow safe travel through the cosmos at untold speeds. However, if you did manage to figure out how to travel at those kinds of speeds, the warp field would collect any debris you came across in flight, and hurtle it into space when you dropped out of warp speed, so each journey creates a ton of dangerously fast projectiles hurtling through space on your last trajectory :hehe:

Not sure if its the same paper, but Miguel Alcubierre created one in 1994, 'The warp drive: hyper-fast travel within general relativity', which has created numerous ideas for Warp Travel (nothing to do with Star Trek either)
A Warp engine would require exotic particles, of which are unknown to us, but hypothetically with the correct exotic particles it could be possible, this would allow FTL which doesn't break fundamental laws around physics, gravity and General Relativity
The term Warp bubble came about from a paper in the 1920's based off General Relativity showing there is nothing to stop us bending space (space would move, not the ship/warp drive), mathematically and theoretically there is nothing stopping this from happening, of course, based on our limited knowledge it is impossible from an engineer point of view
