News Alienware flirts with component product launches

Great, just what the PC component market needs, another brand notorious for charging ridiculous prices.

 

They will fit in just great then.
Dell may have had "Price related" Appletosis, before Apple did.
They certainly showed signs of locked-in syndrome many years ago.

 

I think, if they're doing enough to add the Alienware 'style' to things without adding too many numbers to the price, they might not do terribly.

While the look is definitely very marmite, it might be liked enough for people to buy Alienware parts.

 

Dell already make their own motherboards for systems, CPU heatsinks, etc. Making GPU boards (and undercutting AIB manufacturers' markups) is not too much of a stretch in order to grow margins. Makes it easier - and cheaper - to design integrated cooling setups than having to retrofit cards with new heatsinks.

With better margins per component probably.

I suppose competition is good.
