No, what made Dvorak bitter was that his layout did not generate the speed advantage he had hoped for. In a comparative test of typists trained on QUERTY compared with 'virginal' typists trained on DVORAK, both groups performed exactly the same.

Ergonomically its a can of worms anyway when you start dicking about with layouts.

I use a basic pos compaq spring keyboard (http://www.governmentauctions.org/uploaded_images/keyboard-727620.jpg). $15 and it's 6yrs old plus it works like a champ. I spent money on the fancy keyboards that ended up being ****. The only thing worth spending a little money on is a good mouse.

    1. Agree
    2. Never had problems with excel input.
    3. Lazy
    4. WASD game myself and use the left side of the board for everything.

Tell that to office workers with RSI. As Tesco says, every little helps.

Nice to see a keyboard that can switch which side it's numpad is on. I think point 2 is the biggest one, I often find the numpad placement the most annoying when I'm filling in something like an excel sheet.

I personally think shoulder width is detrimental to the wrist positioning on the operator, and i guess if your not in the 95%th percentile your getting a bum deal.

    in short, grow more.

Once Logitech releases a version in their undulating 3D Wave formation, I'll buy it--typing on a straight keyboard has always been a tad disorienting for me as I've never stopped using a curved keyboard since I learned to type. As for the wide arm stance when using the keyboard, I'm not bothered by it, in fact I like to have my arms a bit further apart. I'm half ambidextrous at most things (particularly at snooker ), so the numpad can be anywhere it needs to be. I only have a problem with keyboard multimedia shortcuts, which almost every keyboard gets completely wrong.

No question, if they release a Natural version of that keyboard I'll buy it the very instant I hear about it.

Well, i've never had a problem with it.
I play games on WSAD, and i appreciate the "wider stance" if you will needed by all those extra keys int he way. Makes it more comfortable to me.
as for excel, etc... shortcut keys... maybe it's a developer's disease, but i am one of those people that can't do anything without shortcut keys...
"start-r","start-e","ctrl-tab"....even photoshop is very heavy on shortcut keys for me.... oh, and RTS games...
in excel, for example, i tab, enter, cursor my way around constantly...

I agree, there are certain situations where having a right numpad can be great. However, during most activities I don't even use it. I like to have the QWERTY portion of my keyboard centered on my main monitor, which means there are several inches of rarely-used keyboard between me and my mouse. It doesn't seem like much, but I really think I'd be more comfortable if I didn't have to reach across that every few seconds.

I like the detachable numpad, but I'd also be content with no numpad, and a laptop-style numpad-only keyboard elsewhere on my desk. Unfortunately, nobody makes an ergonomic board with no numpad.
