my zippo's out of fuel and i don't want to go out and buy zippo fuel when i have something at home that might work. i have tiki torch fuel. would that work? zippos and tiki torches seem to work the same way so i assume it would but i don't want to risk blowing something up or starting a fire or anything like that.

Any fuel should work as long as it's reasonably volatile and not viscous.

a zippo is so simple that it will burn anything. Frankly, it even works on deodrant.. and yes, thats fromexperience. So anything that if flamible will work, from petrol to alcoholic airsprays. Even high concentrated alcohols will work. Just try it out..

surely thats exactly what you want to do?

btw. they'll even burn petrol, though i wouldnt advise it as it smells terrible and you'll need to replace the felt bit inside before putting anything else in it

I would just go and get zippo fuel. It will be easier than having to get and fit a new wick in a couple of weeks time.

It comes out in a block so you can just whack it back in once all the stuff has evaporated. The fuse is kind of worked through the wadding stuff.

All self respecting zippo owners should have at least two spare cans of lighter fuel somewhere.
