hi, im on ubuntu 7.04 and using a very old skype that doesn't support video etc and was wondering if there are any alternative linux programs (or windows runs i can run under wine?) of skype.
for example you get amsn instead of msn messenger etc...

If you're ever looking for alternatives to a particular software package, it's always a good idea to go over to SourceForge and hunt around. Be warned, however, that many of the projects on SourceForge are in various stages of development - some alpha, some beta, some stable release.

A popular - totally free - alternative to Skype is Ekiga. Here 's a recent article from the US magazine Linux Journal that can get you started.
