I was thinkin about water cooling the otherday, now ive never setup a watercooled rig, or even if this idea has come up before, but what if...

I took say a aluminum resivoir with pump, and mounted a peltier or two to the outside of it to
cool the liquid, would this work sufficiently enough to do away with the radiator?

It has been tried. Its not nearly as efficient as you might think.
Go the www.hardforums.com and go to their cooling section. Have a look around and you'll see about 5+ threads dedicated to the idea of water chilling.

A way more efficient means to cool your water before it enters the CPU block is counter-current water jackets. Do a google search for counter-current anything... and you will get the idea.

If your sharp enough you may come up a way to effectively water-chill. But so far noone has had much luck (even when routing the water through their home freezer).

i know pelts need to be cooled, but thats the easy part.. scratch that idea then..

another one.. im sure this would work.. anyway, on my 72' project car I have a cool can.. what is a cool can you ask?

simply you fill it with ice and run your fuel through the line and recirculate it for awhile before the race, its effictive to cool a tank of gas on a 80degree day to the point there is condensation on the fuel lines.. if its that effictive, what if we pumped water/coolant through it.. (on a hot day the ice lasts for about 4 or 5 hours)

    any takers?

if you want to do extreme cooling, get an air conditioner and instead of running the cooled liquid to the fan for the house, run it to your CPU. it'll work good:D in theory you could do the same with one of those window ac. i would try it myself but i have no money:sigh: if someone wants to fund this project, i will do it:D

lol ac running all day....i dunno whatthe electricity cost is over there but that would cost a fortune here in the states.....if u want extreme cooling tear out an old frig and use the cooling unit on that....just like a vapor chill......

The fridge idea is excellent, but the one thing you have to be careful of is handling the refridgerant. I know the States has laws about letting it into the atmosphere, etc. Its also incredibly dangerous to get it on your skin. We had a frdige guy come to the house once, and he had frozen his whole hand once in an accident. No feeling left, as he killed all the nerves off.

With that said, its still the most effective way of chilling water. Its just a bitch trying to find a scrap bar fridge here in Canada.
