well a couple of days after i get home from cornwall im off to Alton Towers for 2 days on the 2nd n 3rd of September. Not sure why im making this thread, just thought it would be cool to talk about the park n stuff. Who has been there, wot rides u people like, hints n tips on the park n stuff. This will be my 2nd time going, last time i went was the year they built oblivion which is cool. Me wanna go on AIR cos thats gonna rock! so..comments, suggestions, hints, tips, pix, woteva really. Start the posting....now!
I loved Alton towers, AIR wasn't around when I was there last though. Oblivion was without a doubt the best ride IMO. Nemesis was far too tame really. AIR does look great. http://www.towersalmanac.com/ << pretty good website covering most thing Alton Towers. <off-topic> Alton towers! That would be a cool place for a bit-tech meet. People would probably travel from further away for it too.
mmm spam pie yeah alton towers is good i think the las ttime i was there they where making Air lol [no pun intended] most of the stuff is good there much better then thorpe park. Word of warning bring you own packed lucnh the prices are yet again huge unless you can find a burgerking or somin
Alton towers is ace, i go about once a year, nemesis is the best ride there imo, oblivion is good but far far too short. a tip, dont go on the back row of the oblivion, especialy if its ur first time on it, u cant see the drop and it spoils it, air is a good ride but was also a bit slow, nice and long though. nemesis is still my fav though, i went on it 6 times in a row wen i was about 12 and loved it every time edit/ log flume and river rapids are also good, ripsaw isnt as good as it used to be because they've changed the timing of the water so u hardly get wet now
thats quite a while back. Ive infact been twice already, the 1st time i was a small kid n nemisis was new and they still had Beast nearby. The 2nd time i was more grown up, Beast was gone, Nemisis was still damn popular and obvlivion had jus been built. This time im going, AIR has jus been built. and some other minor changes done around park. Looking at the site that Sid posted is well interesting, gives history info about rides n stuff, its interesting to hear they have moved a number of rides around the park within the past years n stuff. Come to think of it, i swear i remember being there when they were building Oblivion cos i remember the big holes they were diggin n stuff. Its gonna be great when i go to Florida next year, they have built sooo much since i 1st went...gonna be brill! It doesnt matter about the speed, its the sensation of 'flying' that makes that coaster good. nice gentle flight thru the trees n stuff, like a bird!
I went last year about mid-sept. Went on Air 3 times, twas alright, not great. Nemesis is a little more extreme, went on that 3 times as well iirc, but my m8s didnt want to go on it anymore as its waaaay too short. There's like 1 decent loop in it. Oblivion RULES however! Went on it 4 times in a row in an hour and my neck was aching SOOOO MUCH. Its the best coaster cause it actually makes me fill my trowsers looking down cause im scared of heights. I love it Then u feel ur stomach in ur throat as u drop, then suddenly *OOOF* as u hit the bottom. In all i cant breath for 30 seconds lol. Tis a quality ride. Id love to go to bush gardens in florida, looks great - full of rollercoasters.
me been to bush gardens, they have built loads since i went but the 2 main coasters r Kumba n Montu. both brilliant and unique in their own ways. If i remember right we dint have to que once for montu or kumba, musta been off season or summin. but yea, montu about 10 times in a row was class. then i started feeling ill
ive been to bush (busch?? ) gardens in florida, it is brilliant i went to florida for 3 weeks once and tbh i rly found disney world a waste of money, the only good thing there was the water parks, the rest of the place was boring. islands of adventure is also brilliant but i preffer bush gardens
lol i never remember how to spell that word! neways i still got this puzzle postcard which i bought there! u r sposed to write ya msg, break up the pieces n post it. then the receiver puts it together to read msg. but i kept it never used it!
alton toqwers is cool, last time there was last summer, on nemesis its deffo worth the little extra queing time to go on the front Col
I went last year when Air was built and honestly, it's absolutely stunning. The queue was predictably long, 2 1/2 hours I think, though it should be quite a bit shorter in September and this year. It's not like any other rollercoaster to be honest. You either have the old rickety wooden ones that scare the **** out of me, or the Nemesis-esque ones where you're bolted around at breakneck speed and just get a total headrush. Air is completely different; it's fast but smooth. You glide around it and it's just absolutely fantastic. Damnit, I really wanna go on that again now! Maybe we should get all the bit-tech forum members there on the same day
Alton Towers kicks some serious ass; you've got to go on Air, it's totally mindblowing i think. Make sure you get on Oblivion, Air and Nemesis at some point because they're excellent. The river rapids are great for getting a bit wet; the timings are just about right now, i went in june and got totally soaked! Have a great time anyway
Ill give you the fact its "different" but that's about it. After going on it twice its boring, doesnt make you feel ill - AT ALL. Oblivion is defo better. Although ive yet to find a roller coaster that's fast enough and has enough loops to make me feel really sick.
Head off to Cedar Point and go on their new coaster, Top Thrill Dragster. This coaster has reclaimed the parks title for Worlds Highest Coaster for the 4th time. Reaches top speed of 120mph and a height of 420feet. >>LINKAGE<<
Not been to alton towers for a year now, altho I used to go 5 or 6 times a year... the best ride is air, in the dark (yes, they open the rides in the dark on bonfire night ) nemesis is still a classic, as is the corkscrew... if you get the chance on the corkscrew, sit in the back car, as you're released at the top of the climb, round the first little corner, you get a rather large whip, it's a much better ride from the back than from the front... oblivion is good, but I get more thrills from dropping 5000 foot in a spin in a plane than the 60 or so feet you drop on oblivion, class ride if a little short... Possibly my 3rd favorite ride is the black hole, still as good a thrill as it was when I was 10 There was a new ride in the castle when I went there last time, in the gift shop... can't remember what it's called, but if you like being made to feel disorientated, with a bit of a story to it, go on it, it's pretty cool
Alton towers is pretty good, I go about 3 times a year usually.... My fave ride has to be Nemesis still, oblivion to me is too short and Air is a bit slow IMHO. Thats called Hex (if I remember correctly) and its ok, you get a bit disorientated but then you realise rather obviously that its the room thats moving around you, rather than you moving all that much . When I was in Denmark I went on a thing in Tivoli, the theme park in the middle of Copenhagen that was pretty much identical, but the commentary/story was in Danish. The worst (most painful) ride I have ever been on was this thing called the Dragon , in Tivoli in Denmark, this is some thing thats like ripsaw at alton towers crossed with a fast sort of 'spinning' thing. Basically it tips you every which way whilst spinning you round, and it made me feel sick apart from the restraints being to tight on ones bits and giving me a bad neck from the whiplash . Its a small ride that looks pretty violent but it is worse than any coaster I have been on or anything like ripsaw....
