They'll be used for desktop shortcuts, surely
Reconsidering, I have decided
I only have 3 PCI Slots
I am going to get a PCI TV tuner card
What the hell do I need 4 monitors for?
So I will only use three monitors (for now )
Today I took out me screwdriver, me wire, me solder, and me soldering iron. We're heading towards disaster
I pop out the CD ROM drive, defacing the "Warranty Void If Removed" sticker. I take out the screwdriver and remove the screws. Then I locate the LED (which, to my dismay, turned out to be bi-color) and the power switch. With the uptmost precision I follow the traces until I find a solder pad large enough to solder a piece of CAT5 wire too. Again, to my dismay, the LEDs, instead of being V+ > LED > [whatever circuit controls it] > ground, it was V+ > [whatever circuit controls it] > LED > ground. So unlike Zapwizard with his CD ROM, I am unable to connect the LED to the 5v line then ground it, so I am limited to whatever current the stock LED has. This sounds confusing, I would draw a diagram, but the pic hosting service won't let me upload anything. The switch went pretty well. Now I have 2 twisted pairs coming out a hole in the CDROM, these are LED Anode 1, LED Anode 2, Switch +, and GND.
Say it with me....
For... ownage.... for..... ownage...
And it totally escaped the rest of you that he OBVIOUSLY modded his chair again!
For... Ownage... For Ownage... FOR OWNAGE YAY!!
I am such an awesome modder that I have TWO chairs
NOT AT ALL! Using an optoisolator, you can use the whatever voltage you need! Just put that in instead of the LED and use it as a switch.
But I don't have an opto-isolator. I will see if it works the way it is. If it doesn't, then i'll get the opto-isolator.
Damn, I was looking foreward to the quad-monitor setup...
Thanks for the info on the case. I'll be picking one (or a few) up soon.
Do you know how to set IRQ's, I hear theres a way, But if there isnt i'll be happy to take those moniters off your hands : )
damn nice thread
keep it up and MERRY CHRISTMAS
THE CHRISTMAS LOOT ARRIVES
A few boxes arrived "from Santa"
I recall picking out the stuff and wrapping it, that's odd
I got a DVD player and a TV Tuner card, that should work nicely together. I also got a bunch of cables and switches and whatnot. There will be an update soon.
All hell breaks loose... again
Well what a surprise... my motherboard doesn't like new hardware. So I begin the endevour of trying to fix the d@mned machine...
I finally realized that I have the front panel connectors screwed up. Hopefully they will eventually work.
I'm going to christmas dinner at grandparents' house soon, but I hope to update tonight.
I started work on some other, secret, aspects of this project
To give a hint, it's something that is screwed to the back of the case and has many RCA jacks..
I also started working on making ym headphones 4 channel. I don't really care if they're 4 channel or not, I just like the awesome looking cord. It's got 2 chrome 1/4" plugs, then a bunch of black expandable sleeving (the kind you often see on PSUs)
I did a bit of cable tidying too.
Everything looks great until the computer is turned on. It refuses to boot. It does the POST then stops and eventually shuts down. Everything points towards the motherboard, I think I'll buy a new one. THe old motherboard still works, it's just a bit buggy when there are many IDE devices and expansion cards.
looks like the pics are borked again....
you really cheered my day, i like your sense of humor haha
you seem like those guys at gamefaqs, those someone know what im talking about?

edit: obviously susrcibed
The holiday season brings out the best in everyone i see...lol
Unreliable free picture hosting...
Hopefully I will have a nice FTP server set up soon, so I can :gasp: host my own pics!
I am going to flash my BIOS. The computer takes ages to boot up. I am currently at my uncles house (he is uber-geek and is helping me fix his PC)
Hopefully he will let me borrow his camera, I'll take some pics of the 4 channel headphones I started friday morning. The've got good sound quality, but more importantly, SEX APPEAL. The chrome connectors, clear tinned copper wire, and black flexy sleeving are so cool looking... It's my BLING-BLING.
i'm looking forward to your surround headphones - i had thought about making some of my own a while back, but then i bought some surround headphones made by zalman. too bad they sound like poop
i may have to have another go at making my own
Rock on with the quad-phonic headphones
