But if they're going to con you, why do they even bother pretending? Does buying some time help them get away with it or something? You would think it would be easier to just take the money and go, rather than e-mailing for weeks, pretending you're going to send the item.
Because by stringing people/suckers along, she/Big Mike has been able to continue luring other victims/noobs for the last 5 weeks... this seller is probably gob smacked at how long they have been able to keep this account active for It would be nice if the banks are able to track this fraudster down, not just to reclaim the £30, but knowing they got busted would be priceless PS: I would have got pissed after waiting a few days without sending the item.
We all have a degree in hindsight, but it must be said: when using eBay, DON'T fall for ANY sob stories and always use the official routes for paying.
My first course of action would be to send a message to eBay themselves asking for advice, they have staff ready to deal with these sorts of things, surely? They'll be able to give a straight answer as to whether it's their problem or one for the courts, at least.
what honest person would want anyone to wait 21 days, i wouldn't purchase from anyone like that. i think you have been ripped off. In this event the suggestion below is the best and only option (has the movie) or could ask your bank to do a charge back.
Anyone know if the bank can recall the payment I know they now do it with debit card payments? Googled it and apparently just ring up the bank and they can reverse the payment, to prevent this kind of scam.
Instant scam alert, Paypal will go to her Paypal account instantly (that's the whole point) and even waiting for it to clear to a bank account would take at the most a week. That's just buying time.
i had this done to me before its a total scam. A few years back i got done for £350 the person never sent the phone and i never saw my money. Shes not going to send the item im just suprised she is doing it for such a low amount
Thing is she has had 3 good reps since i paid I sent the email giving her 4 days to give a reply if not i would be taking further action I have a funny feeling i will be calling the bank by next week
Actually the first payment does take 21 days or ebay feedback to clear, so the seller has to either wait, send the item and hope the person doesn't withdraw their payment, or get the payment another way, like this. That said, this is blatantly a scam.
I had a buyer like this one ebay a couple of years ago with a mobile phone, theu'd paid me by paypal BUT had paid with an echeque, when I stated quite clearly please no echeques. The buyer eventually sorted it out and paid me properly. That said I sold an item on ebay to a business this year, and they went mental because I didn't post the item once they'd paid me, started a disput and everything. I make a habbit of stating goods will be sent once payments lcears from papypal to my main bank account and not before. I wasn't paid untill 2 days after the guy had won the auction, so that held things up a bit that and I work full time so can only post stuff at weekends. Ebay is just one huge bloody nightmare.
