I envy your thick skin I think we're done here. Surprisingly positive and strengthening comments all around, though, the forum seems much more at-ease and unified in attitude than I'd expected. Lastly from me, I just want to give an award: ...for Best Analogy Of The Month. edit - Couldn't put it better myself. Hopefully things'll get more friendly when the weather improves
I didn't think things had become unfriendly had they? Mind you I tend not to take forums too seriously, I have a habit of forgetting where I've posted as well so I may be in heated debates somewhere and not realise it.
You describe what I meant perfectly here Canon. "You people make life to complicated". I wasn't aware that signing into a forum and trying to get on with people without reading "Oh is that how it is?" or other sarcastic remarks is considered difficult these days. You mean you don't care one way or another. Something tells me otherwise seeing as you're posting in a topic based solely around the idea that the community has something rotten in. Most people seem to have agreed that it's passive-aggressive tones that people decide to type at each other, snide remarks and the such. It's kind of funny in a way, I sat on B-T lurking around when I wasn't here on an alt and never got the usual "Oh it's Brawl, he can **** off" attitude from a lot of people as standard that I'm very much used to. Was a nice change, but it was funny to see people comment as an "anon" and actually be helpful, kind and considerate for once instead of pre-judging based on an idea we have in our heads about people... thus the passive-aggressive tones that get set off. Nexxo... seriously, I have a Dutch friend, every time I speak to him all I think of is you and that damn dress. You have corrupted my mind!
What the hell is happening on general? Mankz leaves and the rest of us go paranoid? Someone will soon need to come up with a reality show of us.. jeez Take it easy, you're OK.
That's no problem sir, if you'll just come with me... we'll sort that opinion right out. *picks up fire axe* I think people are just worried that the community itself seems to be rotting from the core out. I wandered off for a while but it's always fun to come back. I can see why they would think it as sometimes even the most basic of responses will get the hostile of accusations thrown at them... for example "Look at these puppies!" ... "How dare you oppress the puppy nation!" Bad example but it's my attempt at humour and a way that I see people who argue futilely and with that passive-aggressive "holier than thou" persona that most people on line have. Anyway, aren't we here to have fun? and as such...
Link me to a post where someone said "oh it's Brawl, he can **** off". (not that one) This is what I mean, reading into **** too much. Some people need to grow some bloody balls and stop crying, "oh someone might not like me, and may have or may not have said so" boo ****ing hoo. Deal with it or do what Mankz did and scamper, because this sort of crap is only going to give people a reason to dislike you. I've never seen a bigger bunch of weepy ass women in my life.
I am finding the last couple of days posts on the boards quite forum-affirming after the disaster that Mankz's became. I love you all - Relix bless us, everyone!
A.C.M.E - A Company that Makes Everything. I see your boulder and raise you a Dreadnought. It was a metaphorical sense more than anything... there have been many topics where people have disregarded perfectly logical opinions and statements simply for the fact that the previous was was "Lol - yeah that shits funny". Although that does lead me onto the point of ... ... "reading to much into things". See, the above is a perfect example. Also I'm sure I could dig M7CK and mine's conversation out from somewhere before we reconciled and realised motorbikes are awesome. Your comments are just stupid in my eyes and it screams of keyboard-warriorism which is why you and I have never seen eye to eye in these forums and we made the idea of "best not to respond to each others opinions for fear of nuclear apocalypse" - some people (especially online) are a tonne more sensitive than you or I so sometimes they may require things being put bluntly and in place for them to realise. I.e. B_E starting this topic and various other topics that have been raised about the content of the community, flamewars and various other topics that seem only to provoke a few people who seem to think they are the be all and end all of Bit-Tech forums. Like I said, shall we enjoy chatting and discussing motorbikes, Warhammer, Alcohol, Current Events, Tetris, the joys of large breasts, Various hilarious diseases, Films, content and other non-redditable insanity... or are we going to happily let the community that does actually have a decent sense of humour fall into stupidity with a few elitist trolls at the head? Don't make me repost Tetris... seriously.
It's true. I disregard pretty much anything BRAWL says, except when he's paying me compliments Honestly though, I get what he means. People do develop biases. Just seeing Dwarfer's name in a topic makes me tense up in expectation of annoyance. I try to read things and take them on their own merit anyway, though.
But you see, this is what I do, I read one line of your text, I disregard the rest, then I smile and get on with my day, leave this reply to make myself feel worthy of my space here and then I go browse elsewhere, neither feeling dislike or like for anyone. I am completely indifferent towards those I converse with online, apart from those I have intellectual, academic, emotional or commerical bondings with.
That's because you're an arse, but you're a good type of arse... the firm type. Shame the last part of that requires the first part.
There's not much healthier than being confronted by someone with totally different views than you. Feels w@nk at the time but over time you develop a useful sense of perspective and empathy towards anyone.
