i earn 50pounds a weeks (st00pid keyboard aint got pound sign!!) 200 a month, im a full time 17year old student at college, 2 months in a row i have been taxed 40-50 pounds, should they tax me, i fond personel but the woman was a bit dense (fell like shouting im a student you tart! down the fone) sh e said she will have to get on the blower to head office. from what i understand being a full time student and only earning 2,400 a year means i shouldnt pay tax? this true? Thanks Murdoc
No you shouldnt. You may have been put on "emergency" tax, keep bitching until they give you a P70 (maybe?) form this will give you a proper tax code. EDIT: Also dont exspect your £50 back anytime soon as the goverment likes to take it way but when they need to give it back they drag there feet like a bunch of ****ers.
Aint it the truth. And th sick thing is, if you hadn't noticed, they wouldn't even have said anything. Hell, even the VAT people send you a cheque once in a while if you overpay. But tax? You'll be there for MONTHS.
the owe me £100 now, i aint gonna forget about it, im quite pissed off, i'm going to see matyrix later but she sed she will fone. No wonder everyone hates the taxman @#!?#
From memory of my last run in with the tax people everyone, student or not has a basic earnings limit of ~£4500 and if you earn over that you're taxed. Easiest thing is to wait til the end of the year and get it back then.
tyou shouldn't get taxed untill you earn about £84 a week I think. Seeing as they have taxed you you should get a rebate at the end of the financial year. G{u}ns
i had this problem, either get a p70 (or is it p68?) from ur work or from the post office or do wot i did, ring the tax office and they should sort it in 5 mins, then u get a huge pay cheque one month where u get it all back
£80 odd a week before your taxed sounds about right. Although i earn about 400 odd a month, and havn't been taxed a penny. It varies tho, one month i'll pick up £300, the next £400, then it might be £200 lol. /me rubs casual contract
i did some more anoyed calling they has said they owe me the tax i have to fill out a P46 and tick "section 2" its over £79 quid acourding to the highly confusing IR site.
