My Dad found Phenom II x6 1055T box in his "totally useful someday" pile and gave it to me.....

Inside, contains the AM3 CPU clamshell holder and the original stock cooler. Cooler looks like it is designed to use the fiddly AMD cooler clip.

Anyone know what level of compatibility do those two items have against current AM4 stuff?

Will AM4 CPU like Ryzen 5800x fit inside AM3 clamshell holder? Because I don't have one for my current CPU.
Does the stock cooler still contain any value? Or it's destined for metal recycling?

IIRC the cpu size remained the same from am3 to am4 [just the pin layout/count changed] so the clamshell thingy should still be usable

the cooler is junk though - even if it did fit on am4 [which iirc it doesn't], it was crap.

Thanks very much, exactly info I was looking for.

Keeping the clamshell for when I eventually sell the CPU.
Disassembling (tear apart) the cooler and fan for recycling.
