I've found most of Atreyu's lyrics hit pretty close to home. Alex is just a genius imo. What other bands do you like then? I can most often be found listening to... Atreyu, Alexisonfire, The Bled, Odd Project, Poison the Well, Bleeding Through, A Static Lullaby, Youtragedy, Envy, From Autumn to Ashes, Cryforsilence, Bane, The Hope Conspiracy, Walls of Jericho, As I Lay Dying, Eighteen Visions, Robots With Knives, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Jack Off Jill.
Hahahaha, 'concept' used in the loosest sense I'm sure. Not jumping on any kind of bandwagon of course (see bands like My Chemical Romance that can do it with a decent tune at least). I think that Atreyu are dire to be honest. I'd rather listen to someone who can scream properly at least... Properly being very much unlike a pig dying
You just had to kick it off didn't you K? I totally agree that the acclaimed 'concept' album is far from concept...but that doesn't mean Atreyu are a bad band. Far from it. I too agree that The Curse could have been a better album. But the riffs and the vocals (inc. lyrics) are to die for. These lads have passion and Alex can scream with the best of them! It's throaty, raw and aggressive.
Ditch the screaming guy and leave that guy on drums to sing. At least he had some harmony. This 'Alex' guy has the worst scream I've ever heard mate... From the older stuff at least. Just my opinion though I'd rather go with bands like this for excellent screaming skills: Converge, Beecher, Between The Buried And Me, The Blood Brothers, Saosin, Avenged Sevenfold, Sex Positions, Since By Man, The Rise and the mighty Refused of course I'm with you on some stuff like As I Lay Dying, Bleeding Through and (some of) Eighteen Visions.
