Oops - it's not going Steveo's way at the mo... First US Online resellers ship Tiger early, and now Amazon has given the game away over the specs of the new Powermacs. AppleInsider has this:

Online retail giant Amazon.com appears to have pre-announced Apple's new Power Mac G5 systems on its website, listing three new models with speeds of up to dual 2.7GHz.

While sources had previously predicted that Apple would begin introducing new hardware on Tuesday, Apple has yet to make any official announcements. But more recent information suggests the company will now use Wednesday to roll out new CPUs, including Power Macs which go by the code-name Q87.

Nevertheless, Apple authorized reseller, Amazon.com, appears to have jumped the gun and is already listing three new Power Mac G5 models.

A low-end dual 2GHz model sports 512 MB of DDR SDRAM, a 160 GB hard drive, and a 16x Dual Layer SuperDrive (CD/DVD+RW) for $1,994.99.

The mid-range dual 2.3GHz model is listed as including 512 MB of DDR SDRAM, a 250 GB hard drive, and a 16x Dual Layer SuperDrive (CD/DVD+RW) for $2,494.99.

At the peak of the new product line is a dual 2.7GHz model packing 512 MB of DDR SDRAM, 250 GB hard drive, and a 16x Dual Layer SuperDrive (CD/DVD+RW) for $2,994.99. Sources added that this model also sports a ATI Radeon 9650 graphics card (one dual DVI one single) and a 1.35GHz frontside bus.

All three configurations will ship with Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger preloaded. They are currently available for pre-order.

Sources claim that Apple will officially announce the new Power Macs on Wednesday. They will be available for sale at retail stores beginning 6PM on Friday.

So, they'll have Tiger pre-loaded? I guess that's another way to legally get 10.4 before Friday... But if they're saying that they may withold support for the early shipped copies of the OS, what about these guys? How are they going to determine who's who?

Id expect at least a gig of ram for those prices, yeesh. It's hardly a bargain considering you could pick up the basic kit then probably upgrade it yourself for a fraction of the price. I mean how much is a pioneer 109 now, less than £45? 250gig drives are coming down in price all the time, around 100ish now, 160gigs are 60?? and a 9650 isnt exactly state of the art.

Ok, it's a nice, optimised G5 processor and has tiger preloaded but their powerbooks look far more attractive.
