Wasn't sure which forum to post this in, but I thought I'd share a quick buying experience for you to laugh and cringe over! Around a month ago I ordered the PSU, CPU, mobo and SSD for a new build, from amazon (ordered the rest from scan and dabs), which all turned up great. I briefly checked the stuff which came but as they were all Xmas presents I didn't look at them thoroughly - - Only the most obvious thing which straight away I saw, the Samsung Evo SSD, they sent me a 250GB model instead of the 120GB- Great! Much to my horror....Karma came around and bit me! I was off today and until Thursday next week (working from home *cough*) and wanted to start the build! Upon opening the Corsair CX600M PSU packaging today there lie the 430W version instead which looked kind of broken as the casing didn't fit flush. The motherboard also looked like it had been opened and returned as new, as the large MSI 'Gen 3' etc sticker on the PCI-E slots was missing and I only found out as I watched 2 unboxing videos of the motherboard I bought (MSI Z77GD-45) and the manual was missing! Amazon were great and have sent city link to collect it from my house Monday (hopefully someone will show up). The PSU and mobo I've ordered from the trusty Scan are: Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H 630W Be Quiet! Pure Power L8/CM Both be here Monday, good job I'm 'working from home' next week to receive it! Do you think I did the right thing with the mobo? Any thoughts in the newly ordered parts?
Yeah deffo, if they hadn't discharged themselves properly from static, but also I've read a few reviews saying that this mobo had faulty DIMM slots upon arrival, I reckon it was an RMA and they sent it to me- it's probably the same board being sent to and fro around the UK! I've looked at the CPU box and it still looks factory sealed - although the corners of the box are a little shabby, I can't see any obvious, alarming issues. Have to wait till Monday now when I can continue with it.
I bought nearly all my kit from amazon including the MSI Z77GD-45. Board looks awesome Thankfully everything was was perfect Unlucky m8
Spoke too soon ordered Sansung DVD/Rom with Sata cable the heep Arrived 5 days late DVD writer in plastic bag nothing else lol at least they took it back Serves me right
I bought my DVD drive from scan just an OEM one with a 500gb HDD Also OEM and it came in masses of bubble wrap and was really well secured/packaged. Amazon are good at selling most things apart from computer components, but their customer service is pretty good. A lesson lived is a lesson learned Lol. I'm still waiting to get a refund I just hope city link send it back Ok...
