Amd 2000+XP & bus speed question

    I'm getting a 2000+XP processor in about a week, and I am currently running pc2100 DDR RAM. Will I need faster RAM? I know the AMD runs a 266 bus.
    Any help will be appreciated....

    hi wireframe,

    a quick search on google shows that PC2100 is infact DDR 266 Mhz, so you will be fine :thumb:

    Although, depending on the RAM you may want to upgrade to something faster if you're planning on OCing much....

    And dont plan on overclocking much, the XP2000 is a palamino which not overclock well at all, I know - I tried.

    But yeh it runs at 133(266) default the same as your RAM

    w00t. Thanks guys. I tried googling, but clearly came up with the wrong answers.

    ATM I havent got anywhere near the kind of setup that would allow OCing. My airflow is practically non-existant, and TBH I havent OC'd anything for a good while now. I'm just happy to be moving away from my 800 Duron :D

    Yoda... the newer 2000's have come out in a t/bred flavour... they dont oc as well as the earlier 17/18's but a lot better than the old pallys...

    Forgot the newer ones were T-bred's, the XP2000 pally I had was lucky to gain an extra 100Mhz.
