    I think we should wait till the release date just to be sure, that recent slide said it was the 67** and it said it would have 1280 shaders.

    Looks fake. Why would ATi only use 4200mhz memory on the HD6870 which is 600mhz less than the HD5870?

    I do hope they stick to

    6870/50/40
    6970/80/90

    [off topic: in four/five years time... imagine the 9xxx series and how overused the OVER 9000! Meme is going to be then...]

    Tbh, I think they'll stop that eventually, I mean, the HD10870 would jusy be a bit too much.

    Imagine if it was Nvidia? We'd have the 10000000070 by the end of the decade...

    Anyway ontopic, I kinda like the sound of that, or

    10K70 something like that.

    It's a shame they didn't keep an extended naming convention, I would have loved to have a Core i7 3060000000 Hz CPU.

    Cos the 6870 is the replacement (per this article) for the 5770. They reckon the 5870 will be replaced by a 6970 and ur cards replacent will be a 6990... I've a headache

    I can't see why they would name it like this, as it will start to get to confusing.

    Why do people get so het up about numbering schemes, they are just numbers.

    @Brawl

    As for Nvdias numbering scheme they went from 8000 series to 9000 series then the 200 series and 400 series can't say thats anything to shout about either
