Holy crap that's about £350. Doesn't that effectively make this card a bargain in the USA?
If you fail to take value for money into account, then no doubt the overall score sky rockets. But any review that ignores value is worthless in my eyes. Medium range cards that offer fantastic performance for money will then receive average reviews, and only super performers getting a 9 or 10?

Like everything else, computer hardware doesn't exist in a vacuum, scoring it as such is a waste of everybody's time.

    http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/EAH5970/6.html

techpowerup tested the nvidia cards with 6 month old drivers ( 186.18) We tested the GTX 295 with brand new nvidia drivers (191.06) and ATi cards with 9.10 catalysts. Don't mistake lazy benchmarking for a better review.

Um, the card is 12.2 inches long. The PCB is 11.5inches.

    Hey Guys,

You mentioned the poor AMD drivers and I noticed you listed the Catalyst 9.10 as the ones used in the test, I've seen other sites use the ATI Catalyst 8.663.1 Beta 4.
Assuming it's not a typo, could this be the reason why you're not seeing great numbers?

Some of your test's show the rig you used to be sooo CPU limited it was scary

Lets be honest here if your going out to spend £500 ish on a gpu are you really going to run it on a 3.2 i7 ?
    I dont think so

Do the card some justice and run it on a 4ghz i7 and lets see how much horse power it really has
I unterstand the time and effort that goes into making a review but if something is worth doing then its worth doing right !!!!

I use 3 22" widescreens for a desktop resolution of 5,040 x 1,050. Fantastic when you can get it to work but at the moment it needs two video cards and software triple head which is finicky to say the least (as well as only DX9).

I'd be interested to see what actually supports this as at the moment as well as what the performance is like as you're looking at around 30% more pixels than are used at 2,560 x 1,600.

It would be nice if there was some software to make use of the available power on a single screen, instead of plying us with money-sinks such as hugely expensive multiple monitor setups to make use of the performance available from the biggest & baddest hardware.

Come-on software developers, design some sexy new eye candy to make use of this power - it feels like we're treading water a bit (unless you want a multiple monitor setup of course).

I'm disappointed that it doesn't come with the same cooler as the engineering sample.

Memory amount for the CPU is impacted by a 32or 64bit OS.
Graphics cards don't share the memory with the OS, so it could have 80Gb or memory, it would make no difference which OS was used...Its Graphics memory...

Nothing to do with 64bit OS or 32bit OS,
It could run under Win98 if it wanted to and the drivers alloed it to.

VRAM is not used by the OS*, but it still needs to be addressable. The 32-bit memory limitation regards the address space, and thus the larger the amount of Vram on your GPU, the larger an address space it will need. So good luck with your 80 GB GPU on a 32-bit OS:hehe:

*expect for features like Aero in W7 etc,

not sure how you guys always manage to cripple the ati card your testing but honestly you have some serious issues with your test bench.

for example: on DoW2 you guys got 77fps average on 2560x1600 4xaa - where as TPU got 129.9 FPS

in crysis @ 1920x1200 4xaa you guys got 58fps average - TPU got 74.5 fps

Thats a tad rich given how long you guys were on old drivers for. You were using cat 9.4 and Forceware whatever.whatever for a long long time. And you call techpowerp lazy! Geeeeeeeeeeeez
