    Hello again

I recently posted a self build list back in December, well after 'humming and hawing' about the spec, I'm not any further forward. My dilemma is almost every review / site / forum advises to go with Intel i5 over AMD Phenom, but cash flow is stopping me from doing this, so I'll be aiming for the 'cheaper' AMD processors.

So my question is could you awesome genius help me with a build which is AMD based, below is what I have come up with on my own but would love some help creating a my little baby on limited funds, the reasons for this is because I have to buy a monitor, keyboard/mouse, OS basically an entire new machine and peripherals.

    • Antec 300 Three Hundred Case
    • AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition 3.1GHz 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 Retail Boxed Processor
    • MSI 790FX-GD70 AMD 790FX AM3 DDR3 8 channel audio ATX Motherboard
    • Sapphire HD 5750 1GB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDMI Display Port Out PCI-E Graphics Card
    • G-Skill 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz/PC3-12800 Ripjaw Memory Kit CL7(7-8-7-24) 1.65V

That’s basically what I have so far, and now confusion has kicked in, is this decent enough to browse web, play games, nothing to hardcore mainly World of Warcraft, watching movies etc.
My budget for the whole unit is about £700-£900 (this includes the mointer, Windows 7, keyboard/mouse, PSU etc)

    Many thanks in advance.

You can afford an i5 system for that. Mine was £866 with all that you need in it.

    From scan, bought in November.

And that included Moniter, OS, PSU, Keyboard/Mouse etc? because when I have priced up them and those come to about £300 alone.

    Love to see your build

What you have liested will be fine for browsing and games like wow. Those ripjaw memory isn't cheap so if your struggling with budget drop them for something cheaper.

Okay, so my Ram cost £80 from Novatech and my PowerSupply was £50 from Pixmania, the rest was £760 from Scan, without Scansure Insurance and with cheapest delivery!
Love to see my build ? It's in my sig. Got pictures if you really want to see.

wow, my eyes have been opened, well within my budget and seems to be a great build for what I need it for. Think I may have a play around as could easily afford better keyboard/mouse and possibly up the graphics card.

The PSU is overkill really. Drop it down to the 500w range and get the better Antec 300 case.

Oh nice job, that looks perfect.

Maybe add in a few 120mm fans as well, also would the Fenrir fit into that case?

That looks pretty good, but you should definitely go for a 5770 for only~£10 more.

Is the 5770 a good card? just after reading the review here I'm not impressed.

The HD4890 is faster, but it's also more power hungry. I'm currently messing with some 5-series cards and am pretty impressed. I'd definitely get the 5770, for most games it will be enough, will support DX11 if you find yourself needing it in the future, etc. All-around I just think it's a better choice.

Also depends on the prices you can get those for. I wouldn't really know how much those cost over there.
