nah its $599 in USA so that`ll be £499 - much higher on launch day thanks to price gouging from etailers - but retail will be £499.
£510-£515 initial launch price id imagine in uk £499 after that. $599 to $629 in america. Still an expensive GPU however it performs.
Remember when the 5870 launched for £325 or so? Look how many people bought those. It's only Nvidia that have started this nonsense act of snobbery. So AMD don't exactly have to follow suit do they? Just because the 780 is £500 and this new AMD card will be £500 doesn't make it worth the money. It just shows how willing we are as consumers to allow ourselves to be sodomised.
They kinda have to follow suite. Simple reasons really, people will look at cards, order by price, see a sea of NVidia cards at the top, and £200 less - an AMD. By association with hte lower costing Nvidia cards, people will be snobbish and splash on the Nvidia. By people I mean sheep. We see it with Macs, and other brands. People pay over the odds for what they feel is worth more simply because of the price tag on the box. Plus, they've got to find a nice balance between selling a few cheaply, or selling a few less but more expensively.
$729. https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/62123-radeon-r9-290x-priced-at-72999-newegg/#entry847981 FPMSL.
AMD have been bundling games for free for ages. What's BF4 worth? $50? so that's $679. Or £600. Let's face it, it's strongly looking like they are going to follow suit with Titan, and have the same marketing brainless monkeys doing their pricing. Shouldn't expect anything else these days.
i read somewhere that the BF4 bundled version is a limited edition with a higher price, we'll see the true retail price in a week or so i doubt amd would release the card at $730 without justification.. no point speculating, just wait for reviews
Considering my 6850 is still running most games at 1080p just fine (with AA) and I paid ~£200 anything more than £300 for a new card would be bonkers for me to spend.
well 300 or less is around the performance level, no point buying the 290x unless you want the very very best, i'm sticking to 280x matrix platinum easily the best point for amazing performance for cost, I wouldn't buy a 290x unless my budget was at least 1.5-2k
This card needs to come out now or get some reviews out already.. This Titan killing hype is driving me nuts..
Been that price for about a month on daily deal Ect. If the bf4 edition is only launch edition which would not surprise me you have your price change the $ to £ for country specific. Think hopes of a £500 Gpu have gone out the window and looking closer to £650 min. People will say its cheaper than a Titan but so what unless you were buying a Titan it matters zip. High end Gpu market gone a bit nuts if that's the pricing they are going with. 680 at £420 ish was about the limit per Gpu for most people. People I've spoke to think asking for cash with no idea what the total will be is a bit shady also. Can not say I've ever pre ordered something and not known the end price I was going to be paying. Personally looking at March / April next year for a upgrade but if these are the crazy prices think I'd be passing.
Wasn't this generation supposed to be GCN-revised or GCN-2.0 (ok, maybe not 2.0, but at least 1.5)? So how can 280/280X be 7950/7970?
