These cards come with screens on the back? Awesome! (on page 2, 3rd paragraph, probably meant to say screws)

Nice review though - not that I'll be upgrading for another couple of years, still a nice card from the looks of things.

Blaming apple for high graphics card prices is lol

Amd is setting there prices due to lack of competitor in the market

    Wow at those temps though

Hmm I have my eye on a custom cooled HD7850 for my wife's machine.

I wonder if I could justify the HD7870 which would quickly become a HD7950 (given the relatively small price gap).... :p

    Need MOAR Eyefinity.

    No, triple-wide EyeFinity.

Once you've played a game in Surround that supports it properly, you won't want to go back. ;)

Tsmc at last check does not make any apple chips Samsung still has the bulk of there contract for the a6 a7 chips they will be using

So can't blame apple for tsmc failing at yields

If intel ever bothered to use its 20nm process for gpu and supported them I think AMD and nvidia would be blown away,

Intel doesnt have the tech for a high end gpu - they tried (larrabee) 3 times now and failed , thats where AMD have a lead , Fusion is going to work (you can tell - the gpu will be available for offloaded calcs when its not in full use, next step or the one after maybe)

    Conclusion
There is a whole lot to like about the HD 7870 2GB. Phenomenally low power consumption for a high-end card, low temperatures, and a reasonable if not colossal in speed

    ? ? ?

    dunx

P.S. Sorry ! Me, no understand...

Now if Bit Tech were to put out a Buyer's Guide for today, which if any of AMD's latest would they choose to recommend... and which of nVidia's current range would still get the nod?

I suppose a lack of a Buyer's Guide is all part of Bit's 'wait n see what nvidia show up with' philosophy. Just a shame nVidia haven't come up with an ETA yet!

i would love to see amd just one time come out with a card priced to take the market by storm...if they had this at $295, they would fly off the shelves...

i know they need to get rid of 6950 stock and even 6970, but just once...just to see what kind of market share they gobbled up...just to see how many of those guys waiting for "april" (ie kepler which wont be april at all) tip over and grab one of these...

@ $295, i sell my gtx 570's and grab a pair of these...@ $325 maybe even...@ $349, i wait till prices fall, which means the prices of gtx 570's most likely fell, and then i can't get what i need for my 570's to upgrade and not piss off the wifey, which means i am waiting until mid-year bonus, which means kepler might have some credible release dates/performance numbers, which means...ah...you know

Could a switch from Team Green to Team Red be on the cards?

Hmm one of these or see how much the 6970 drops in price, or possibly a 7850. Ah good times. I do love choice when it is time to upgrade. :)

I don't see why everyone is sqwaking over price. It trounces the gtx 570 (cheapest $329), nips at the heels of the 580 (cheapest $439), and uses 65W less power than the 570 at load. Sounds like a bargian to me...

I really need to find the "safe" place I put my credit card as this looks like an excellent upgrade to my 5850. The only downside is that I'd probably end up buying a pair of U2410s as well to double check the Eyefinity performance for myself :D

I have just found my new card :D

have been looking for an upgrade for some time and was considering the 7950, but this seems better suited at my res.

Well done AMD you got yourself a sale :thumb: (once I can get a hold of one that is)
