Given the frame rate results, I'd say it's the perfect card for a Freesync display.

..it will seem like a much better card than it is paired up with such a monitor.

It is a shame this is so late to the party. 6 months ago this would have been snapped up.

So I was interested in perhaps upgrading my R9 280 3GB. So far I have only been able to duplicate one test (Valley).

    That is a score of 2862 with my Asus R9 280 3GB (DCUII) @ Stock clocks (980 core/1300 mem)

2945 with an Asus Strix R9 380X 4GB in this review.

Other than the 1GB of extra VRAM what advantage does the 380X hold over the 280? Any tips on duplicating the other benchmarks for further testing?

The jump isn't worth the money. It's still just a 7970 but with a bit more speed, a couple of core tweaks, and more RAM thrown in.

Overclock your cars to 1050 MHz on the core, which it can do easily, and your performance will be nigh on identical.
