The only AMD chip which might actually be good.

Good is relative. I can kick in any 2500k under 4.7ghz with this processor.

It is nice to see them bringing out higher performance Llano chips, though.

    Maybe you can... just.

You have 8 cores, 2500k has a mere 4, so which is performing better core for core? ;)

True but you have twice the cores and the same clock speed....

I'm looking forward to building a cheap FM1 system with a 3870K. It'll be interesting to see what it can do with the unlocked multiplier.

It won't compete with my currrent build (2700K @ 5 GHz) or the next one (dual SB-EP Xeon) for performance, but it will be my first AMD build in about 10 years and will have it's uses (it may become my browsing/downloading system and fileserver). I just hope it doesn't have the problems I have had with the i7 build (damaged motherboard, gpus not working)

I have twice the 'Cores'? I have four cores with Beefed up Hyperthreading. I don't have eight full cores, I've only got four Execution units and FP units. That really ruins performance.

Were it eight complete cores it'd probably perform a bit better.

Let me just look at power consumption holy :jawdrop:. Oh and look my i7 860 is faster.

Let's not start a flame war.

I'm looking forward to these, am hoping to replace my current i5 media pc with one of these :) (would go bulldozer but no mitx boards :( )

You can see my power consumption from here?!

I've accepted all this crap; I just like that I can actually keep this thing where AMD intended it; Between the 2500 and 2600 chips.

    I wouldn't reccomend bulldozer anyway.

Llano should be awesome for a media pc, however. The integrated GPU is powerful enough to happily manage h.264 1080p, so it saves you the money and heat of an extra GPU.

Ooh I do like the look of that. I've been kinda sorta wanting to build a mITX-LLano-setup and that chip makes it all the more tempting.

And the BD/SB has absolutely nothing to do with this thread, so just STOP IT already. Just makes you all look like fanboys competing at who goes the furthest with the stupid flaming.

I'll be honest; I started it.

But I do agree; That chip makes Llano really rather tempting for a low-power machine that still has a good bit of kick should it be needed. Brilliant for a media machine.

True but when you look at the 2600K it has much better scores than the FX 8120.

As people have already said, just stop it.

And tbh, i'm not liking the look of the integrated gpu for running 1080p stuff (my i5 has no problems with that) it's more so that I will be able to use it as a full LAN PC without a dedicated card needed :D (hopefully, since TF2 is the most intensive game I play at LANs :p)

    I've finished it.

But yeah. For a low power gaming machine or a hilariously overpowered media server; Llano is becoming pretty damn attractive. It'd make a good lan rig in tiny case.

Ok, I'm confused, having a quick look, how would the 3870k compare to the 3800?

And any idea of price/when they will be available, the 3670k is already on the scan site, although only preorder.
