Hardware AMD Ryzen Laptop Preview: Asus ROG Strix GL702ZC Benchmarked

To be honest I don't expect Ryzen laptops to take off until they use Ryzen/Vega APU's. Then I can see them being very popular.

 

Exactly this, I think that is where AMD will make an impact with laptops. And Lev, how do, long time no see.

Price to performance seems strong and it is good to see something other than a 7700HQ / GTX 1060 based laptop in this price range.

With regards to the review I would note that you certainly can overclock both Intel CPU's (in certain laptops*) and Nvidia GPU's with relative ease.

*I can use Intel Extreme utility to tweak the clock speeds on my 4700HQ to the same degree as a non K desktop CPU.

 

Indeed. I occasionaly comment on things they post on Facebook, though I still spend most of my forum time on X404.

Nice to see Ryzen laptops, but if I were getting a separate GPU I'd probably want Nvidia at the moment.

Agreed, nice to see Ryzen laptops but when the green can put 2x1080s in a laptop I think AMD will find more joy with those just wanting APU graphics.
