    Usually for game consoles the company (in this case Nintendo) will contract a design for a graphics chip and then purchase the design for their exclusive use. After that its manufacturing which AMD is now fabless (and tsmc was probably the foundry anyways for high volume silicon) so all AMD is getting is PR from this I bet.

    I believe they do get paid royalties for chip sold, i doubt they would ever be so stupid enough to do it for a flat fee as you stated. How do you think the microsoft/nvidia partnership went awry.
