    Holy Toledo! Yonah going to believe this, but AMD is to show it's new dual A64 core processor today... :D

    From news.com:

    Advanced Micro Devices is expected to show off a dual-core processor for desktops at its headquarters Wednesday, but is keeping tight lipped about the details.

    The chip, code-named Toledo, will feature two separate Athlon 64 processing cores on the same piece of silicon. It will start appearing in PCs in the second half of 2005, said Theresa DeOnis, desktop brand manager for AMD.

    Putting two cores on a chip will allow a computer to perform two tasks at once, she said, or run specially tweaked applications faster. Windows XP Professional will be the operating system of choice for many dual-core desktops, as it is already threaded to run two processors.

    More har... I mean dual core action here ;)

    Take that Intel! You release chips based on AMD64, AMD pump out DUAL AMD64 chips!

    Id say it goes more like this, -XP- ;)

    AMD releases X86-64 instructions set. Intel takes the X86-64 instruction set and rebrands it EM64T. AMD Announces Dual Core capability. Intel announces Dual Core capability. Intel Demos dual core capability. AMD Demos Dual Core capability.

    Today should be interesting. :)

    Well just because AMD beat Intel go having 64-bit available doesn't mean they came up with the idea nor does it mean that they should get exclusive rights to it.

    On a similar note, ATI's displaying the first 512MB gaming card at the Texas gaming fest in a couple days. They're giving one out too!

    No-one said this, just that intel tends to get ideas from elsewhere :D

    A 512mb card's going to be pretty useless for a year or 2 unless you want to run the ultra textures in doom 3 or run particularly nasty CAD programs.

    Nice one AMD! And I bet it's gonna run sub 100W at full load. Another one in the ba**s for intel there.

    That is indeed a much more accurate picture.

    However you wouldn't find me yelling it at Intel.

    On a side note, Im going to point out this paragraph;

    This is interesting, as it goes against previous reports that the desktop dual core parts will lack hyperthreading.
