According to this report from the rumour mill, it would appear that NVIDIA are planning to make use of AMD's new Fab36 production plant located in Dresden, Germany.

I'm sceptical about the truth of this rumour, bearing in mind the fact that AMD has barely enough fab space to produce large quantities of their Athlon 64, Sempron and Athlon XP processors. The supplies of these processors are very tight across the globe and AMD cannot keep up with the demand for them. I find it hard to believe that AMD would rent out their much-needed fab space to a third party when they're struggling to produce their own chips in high volumes, especially when you consider the fact that Dresden is running 24/7 to attempt to keep up with their own demands.

NVIDIA currently work with TSMC and IBM to produce their 0.11-micron graphics processors, but it would seem that they're not happy with the volumes that they're receiving from IBM, who're struggling to get their 0.11-micron process fine-tuned. It's inevitable that 0.09 micron graphics processors are not far away and NVIDIA are looking to find a possible replacement for IBM who're not supplying them with enough chips on their current specifications to pass their screening process.

Further reports suggest that IBM are already offering a 0.09 micron manufacturing process and have chosen to scrap their 0.11-micron process as part of a business decision.

What if they kill off all AXP manufacture? Why dont they build a new FAB (ok thatll take years i know) - its not like they are in the red.

Im sure theyd get more from nvidia than selling AXPs tbh, and it would encoruage a migration to 754 for mainstream. Dunno how it works exactly, but they could use their SOI kit for their cpus and use the other stuff for nvidia?? Wild stabs in the dark there.

If they were to kill Athlon XP manufacture, they'd need the space for manufacturing more Athlon 64's :)

AMD only have one fab currently running and so dont have a huge output. I cannot see AMD sacrificing some of the output of a new very high end Fab to nVidia without a very large payout. Remember AMD is probably going to be using IBM tech and you all know what happened with nVidia and IBM
