    Hello Fellow Members,

Now is the time for you to express what you think of the two bad guys, Intel and AMD.

I am usually a AMD man myself, but i love Intels new Core 2 Duo CPU.

    Tell us what you think.

Every time there is a spec check thread and people spec a AMD CPU we always have this argument.

There is no sense in going for an AMD atm unless you need a very budget comp. Anything above that you should get an Intel. Thats it, and that is pretty much what everyone will say at the moment.

Intels C2D 6700 which I now have is awesome! So it's gotta be Intel for me!

Not true anymore, the E4300 is a good budget.

I was thinking super budget doug, as in "i've got no money for a computer but I need one" second hand prices are low.

I agree with you though, anything above super budget then its intel all the way.

To be fair you went from a low clock speed dual core AMD to a 6700 which is clocked in ur sig at 2.13GHz i believe.

Yes the 3800x2 was a poor clocker but i believe the two companies dual core ranges are perfectly fine.

Yeah so intel shave a few seconds off 1mPi, but who actually cares!!! its like 3Dmark scores they mean jack in the real world, i got 2500 odd in 3Dmark06 and yet i can play BF2, fear, quake 4, and COD2 all with decent settings on a 7600GS.

it all comes down to price in the end, which ever CPU is cheaper.

Has it been 2 months already since the last "AMD versus Intel" thread?? I never understand why people make these, or they don't just keep going.

i have an AMD 3000+ however im not quite sure if i prefer it over my old p4.. its better for games but for apps.. probably not. i found my x64 version of windows wasnt very good because it didnt support all apps ( one being zonealarm ) but when running normal windows it was fine ( it just didnt run as fast =[) im probably goin to go for a quad core next =]

Dunno what its like in Europe, but over here its $A125 for an X2 3600+, and $A235 for a E4300. If you want a cheap dual core box AMD wins hands down. I wouldn't even consider a Pentium-D as they are rubbish, but even if you wanted one D820 is more expensive then a X2 3600+.

Either way its a crap thread. Apples or Banana's? everyones going to have a different opinion due to their needs

Should be a rule, "No AMD vs Intel threads" :hehe:

There's no winner, no loser. It's mostly personal reference really

TMM: the prices are similar over here, but less for each. Its around $100 for a 3600+ and $170 for an E4300. Pentium Ds can be had for as low as $70 for an 805.

AMD vs. Intel will always be back and forth and depending on budget. Everytime somone releases a new architecture they seem to take the lead back, and lose it again, price down their chips so they become the budget champ, then get back on top again. Its basically going to cycle like that forever in my opinion.
