HKEPC makes its reports based on information from official sources. They hear about it in Taiwan, China, and other high tech production areas sooner than they do in the States. This was previously reported in The Inquirer; id be surprised if it wasnt true.

That's very interesting move from AMD. It will be fun to see how that will play out in their favour; if it does go in their favour. I, too will be happy about the price drop.

I think Intel has AMD good now, AMD have been ahead of processors for a while now, and Intel is making a come back finally. I doubt AMD will let this last long though, but if the new Intel processors are expensive. I think most people will stick with AMD.

From my understanding, you'll be able to get a fairly high-end Conroe chip (4MB cache or something) for around the price of a mid-range X2, and have it totally whoop it's silicon arse in performance. Could be imagining things, but I could swear that the highest(?) Conroe would be sub-$400.

    Err... just googled:
QUITE competitive, seeing that AMD's cheapest X2 is $300ish right now.

I won't believe anything about Conroe until it hits the shelves and Bit-Tech gives us a good review side by side with AMD.

This is in Spanish, but Google might help finding something similar in English.

Not being able to read Chinese or really make sense of the Babelfish translation makes me take this with a pinch of salt, but it is HKEPC

So being somebody with ~£160 to spend on a new CPU im best off waiting til the next Intel chips are out?

An AMD X2 939 would let me use my old DDR ram, saving me money. Are the 939 X2s that bad?

Those price cuts are for the AM2 processors, but theres no way that AMD would keep the 939 prices up. If you can still find a 939 X2 by then, it should be an absolute bargain.
