So lets see, the 4800X2 is around £450 while the FX-60 is around £750. So for the same clock speed as the FX-60 but with half the cache (witch makes a next to nothing differance) the 5000X2 will cost ?

Place your bets now :p, I'd say £600...

If you're interested in the release dates, you might want to check out the diagrams on:
http://www.hkepc.com/hwdb/am2-4800-1.htm (Nevermind about the "text" outside the pictures), especially this one.
Good news and rather interesting really, eventhough as you can see that information has been available for a few days on hkepc already.

@ Shadow_101 yes, it would make sense that the L2 is 1mb / core, so 2mb total (as with the X2 4800+ and X2 4400+ and all DC Opterons - basicly all CPU's with Toledo core).

@ Fra4nk ...well, first of all the 5000+ wont be more expensive than the FX-60 or FX-62, as it wouldn't make any sense and there's a good reason for it; The multiplyer will be locked upwards, as with all the other "normal" CPU's from AMD. If I'd have to guess right now, without further inspecting, I'd say it would be priced at about 500-550£ or 700 euros

    1MB X 2

The FX60 is 2MB I imagine its 4MB tho really, as it has 2 cores, I think, at least.

FX-60 has 2x 1mb L2 and yes it has two cores, but it's multiplier is unlocked unlike any others - but like all FX' series

AMD's way of advertising, or a mistake. Im just going to wait till Dec to build a new comp, I suppose having an empty credit card is a good thing.

Personally im waiting for the new socket before I leap to 64-bit just because product life-cycle right now is too low, what is it at the mo? 18 months before a new socket and the old one is caned?
Personally it's a pain and just makes me hold off buying new tech. I like the security and life time of older sockets like SKTA which was about 4 years or so I think? perhaps longer?

    *grumbles about the "olden days"*

Does it say anything about 940mOpterons beyone x80? The idea of paying $1000 plus (EACH!) for the same clock speed with two cores puts me off a bit. Sadly, since it's server heardare prices will be painful far longer than in the consumer market. I mean, people are still selling dual Pentium 2 servrs for good money on eBay!
