News AMD's Herkelman claims Navi price drop an anti-Nvidia bait-and-switch

    I said the same thing. Thought it was fairly obvious, too...

    Two scenarios:

    a) AMD were caught unawares with SUPER perf/price, and cut prices at the last minute to be more competitive.

    b) AMD deliberately sandbagged to keep the SUPER card launch prices artificially high. All Herkelman's waffle about die sizes and margins is meaningless if Nvidia had the margin available to drop launch prices to match Navi, and if they did not then the song and dance about 'jebaiting' would be wasted effort anyway (and actively detrimental to AMD in the run up to launch).

    With AIBs by all appearances being caught flat-footed by Navi pricing, scenario A seems like the one to bet on.
