    Just read this. Really awesome!

For me, if Mantle is compatible with Star Citizen when I come to buy a GPU, an AMD card will probably be a no brainer for me.

Why are the other graphs shown in the Overclockers thread also not shown here? You know the ones that show the Mantle improvement to be basically non existant at 1080p with AA.

    http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18627606

Also the graphs shown above are somewhat useless as a Mantle comparison as they don't include DX11 performance numbers for the AMD cards...

    Hi Xaser,

Those graphs are included in the url i linked to at the bottom of the opening post. Sometimes i will mix images up a little from forum to forum to keep things fresh. Rest assured though everything is in that link.

I don't think you've understood what Mantle does. You only see small performance gains at the top end because its GPU limited there. In simple terms, Mantle helps balance load over cores, and removes CPU bottleneck.

This is true, however it can also help even at higher resolution. Depends on the game really. You're right in what you say though Parge, Mantle has a bigger impact at lower resolutions and when cpu limited scenarios present themselves.

Looking at my results above i got a 3fps increase at 1080P with a 6 core 12 threaded cpu. That's not bad at all.

I would expect to see big gains all round once crossfire is implemented. Certainly i see that in every Mantle enabled game with crossfire support when i use my setup.

Your own 4k mantle test does not really show it as been great for it either. Your own results are behind direct x in both min and max fps. Even the Average is only 0.6fps better.

I have a question do you think Mantle or tech like it will eventually make gaming at 4k possible on lower end cards? As removing the CPU limitations at high end will not really assist in this surely as the games will require high end CPUs anyway to game at 4k?

You have the highest rated single card gpu by AMD and your results would indicate its unplayable in direct x or mantle. How many generations of gpu tech are we from a single gpu setup at 4k as the r295 is not the best option for many due to drivers / cost.

No, higher resolutions almost always = GPU limited.

This is the first pass of Mantle in Sniper Elite V3, so more improvements will come over time. However the biggest gains will always be in multi gpu setups and cpu limited scenarios. There is more to it than just fps averages though, frame times also play an important role. Good, consistent frame times are responsible for a smooth gaming experience and this one area Mantle excels in under crossfire.

We're probably a long way off a single gpu having enough grunt to run games at 4K maxed out. Not even Mantle magic can solve that I'm afraid. For 4k at high details you need to be looking at two cards minimum ideally. Three is the sweet spot currently.

It's true what you say though, the need for a top end cpu certainly diminishes somewhat the higher resolution you go as you become gpu limited.

Just remember in my tests I'm only running one card. I posted some results elsewhere and i used 2x290 in crossfire in DirectX. I will post my results so you can look at them.
