Maybe for a 1.1/1.4 fiesta or corsa maybe, but for a Punto 1.8 HGT so that aint bad. Considering im 18 and its on a joint policy with my dad. Im happy with it cos i got 3yrs no claims when i started the policy, so when i get another car im gonna have 3+ years of no claims.
Here is something funny from elephant I just went through their site to see what they would charge me (19yr male 1 year experince 0 no claims bonus) to get insured on my dads car (BMW 318i SE 1.9ltr). The price they would charge me is............. £4921.63 So elephanet reckon charging nearly 5 grand for a 15 grand car is right. But also they would charge 5 grand for a £500 car? Someone needs to rethink the way insurance is calculated.
Tesco was cheapest for me too, even before my 10% discount for being staff, it was a good £50 cheaper than the nearest one to them that I could find For a few years, I got the car on my mums insurance, to allow me to get older, and not kill my pocket with a 2000 quid insurance bill... instead, I paid £700 a year for 2 years (in my mums name), and then took my own out @ £900 fully comp on a Pug 106 1.1... Next year with being 21, I should drop to below £500, with my no claims building up
I'm doing a similar thing as big Z. Right now I'm insured under my sister (£636 full comp). Until 1 year goes by I'll looking into having the car insured on my name as long as it isn't too high. If it is then I'll keep as it is for another year. By then I will hopefully have the cash need to buy something half way decent without killing the wallet.
you get that a lot if trying to insure a high powered car "We are unable to offer you an on-line quote, we need more details about the driver.." in other words... no chance sonny jim!
Tell me about it, the camaro is less than 2 grand a year full coverage, and my neon is way less than that...
The quotes you've had so far have taken the pee tbh Sam TBH you'd be as well ringing round all the insurance companiesp, cos they will often beat what someone else is charging (though apparently that tends to happen at renewal time more often ) and the online things tend to be pretty inaccurate.... Check out Liverpool Victoria, & Adrian Flux as well...they are supposed to be quite cheap for car insurance.
yea im only using it as a guide so far as my test is in 5 weeks so its time to look for a car but first i have to pay for repairs to the bike before i can sell it /me will be permanently skint
ah right, good luck mate..... don't worry about failing at all, the actual %age of people that pass first time is quite low.... but if you can drive, you can drive, no matter how many tests you've taken. oh, I passed on monday, great feeling
Ive gotta say that elephant prices are very weird!! When i was 19, they insured me on a grp 14 car TPFT, with 2 fault claims and 1 years no claims!!! Maybe there happy with there current userbase and dont want any more customers!
