Can anyone help me please, I have been through the topic in the hardware section and if i am honest the overclocking section really baffles me.

So I was wondering if anyone can help with an idiots guide lamens terms, or an ongoing step by step so that I can understand better.

if it helps here is my PC spec:

    COOLERMASTER HAF X
    ASUS P8Z68-V
    i5 2500K
    Antec Kühler H2O 620
    Corsair Vengeance Jet Black 1600 DDR3 8GB
Corsair Force Series 3 120GB SSD
    Western Digital 2TB Caviar Green
    VTX 2GB RADEON HD 6950
    Powercool 850w Modular
3 x200mm red led coolermaster fan
    2 x Akasa 120mm fan
    Windows 7 Home SP1

    currently at 3.3Ghz

must admit, i am still baffled. Iget the fact that i have to change voltages and other settings to get the results but that guide wasn't realy what i was after. thanks anyway

Has anyone got an ASUS P8Z68-V that they have overclocked and could tell me how to do it, i know OC'ing is the same but each board has its own way of doing things, as i really dont have a clue

    thanks

Your hard drives on fire :hehe:

Use realtemp for your cpu temps :thumb:

speedfan is sometimes a bit mental

Nah, all you need to do is the pencil trick across the L1 bridge.

One for the old timers :)

Up the multiplier. Seriously job done right there. Increase voltages accordingly, but you can do 4.0GHz stock no problem.

    t4n6o - 3 ways to help:

When you go into the UEFI and you're in EZ Mode, click the speed dial with the fire on it. That'll Auto OC for you.

Or, go into advanced mode and under AI Suite find the Auto Tuning option - select that and it'll Auto OC for you.

Or, on the actual motherboard PCB itself, flick the TPU switch up in the top corner by the memory slots. That'll Auto OC for you too as well.

    :) Hope that helps.

think its already set to the fire icon

does the TPU switch need to be set to enabled or disabled

Look at the part that says ~1600 mhz.

Stress your CPU and you will see it jump to 4326mhz

It automatically downclocks to 1600 mhz when not under load

think iam going to have to use snipping tool instead of print screen, but if you look on the asus window it show 4326Mhz and it said it on cpu-z when i was doing some stress tests. soo looks like i got that 1 nailed.

Now i have read thar the board can go higher but the last tiome i used extreme setting on the asus suit it crashed the system - any advice

Last picture says 4.something GHz as far as I can see so I'd say overclocking success! :)

Now go play some games and enjoy it :p ;)

played red faction gureilla yesterday and i noticed a major difference from my pold AMD system ( i say old but it's about 4 months old ) and the difference is immence - so much smoother.

just cant decide what to play now:
Red faction gureilla - cant sign into windows live
COD 4 - but not keen on mouse and keyboard on that game
    Steam
    Sniper ghost warrior
    Borderlands
    Battlefield 2
    Battlefield 2142

welll woke up this morning and turned on the PC only to find that the OC that i did last night had not worked 4.5 just obviously wasn't stable enough.

any advice to make it higher or does it look like 4.2/4.3 is my limit?
