You could get it to chase very very fast by sticking about 10Ohms of resistance in place of the 100K pot.

 

what about having it chase at a normal speed but strobing to highlight the fan blade as going slow

I designed it so it only strobes on chase mode; since i presum STATIC RGB mode is for when a box full of flashing LEDs of varying colours(/colors) becomes slightly distracting!!

Does it change its strobe speed at random so it looks like the fan blades are slowing down and speeding up

 

Oh, and it does strobe dont it, so you cant see the LED flashing cause they are strobing that fast, or do that flash!!!!!

What kind of VRs do you recommend for VR1 and VR2, the Sub-Miniature Fully Enclosed Carbon Presets or dont they have enough varience on them

 

Yes it would be difficult to make it completly random, there is often no such think. It would probably reqire several more ICs to get a random strobe effect.

Sub-Minitures are fine, just a bit fiddly, i'd get something a bit more adjustable.

Acrimonius....how creative are you? I'm lookign for somethign creatiev to do with my HDD and NIC activity lights...I was going to double the HDD Activity circuit that Macroman did that swaps from blue to red during activity for both of those lights...but if you can think of something really cool, I'm open to ideas.

I want to put two logos on the front of my case, kinda liek case badges but implemented liek the chrome macro black logo macro did...I wanted to put somethign cool for NIC activity behind one, and something cool for HDD activity for the other...any ideas?

also acrimonious, i want to do this mac kind-of power led fading thingie... and have seen many circuit diagrams(well, too many actually) and as i dont know nything about electronics, if you have the time to do it...throw together the easiest circuit for a led fader. and how do you think would be best..? to use the mobos powersupply for the powerled or just a spare 5v from psu? i plan to have 1 white led...should be about 3,5v...oh, and the led should stay on for about 2-3 seconds and the fade out/in process should take the same amount of time

oh...as i only frequent the electronics forum, i just discovered almost the circuit i need in the what do you want sticky... so what would be necessary to edit if i want the led to stay on for a longer time?

 

Increase the resistance of the SPEED VR1, allthough i think about 25K should be sufficient for just a few seconds.

I've had a few ideas Arcana, i'll post some schems up in a few days, i just haven't got 'the one' yet.
