I am currently using a HTC Desire which i was given by my cousin and up unti a month ago its been working fine but it now it will run out of battery when i try to open an app for more than a minute despite just being fully chraged. So i have started to look at options if i can't figure out why its doing it. Price could be about £100-150ish and the one i've seen for about that price which would have what i need is the Sony Xperia J, can anyone recomend it? The Galaxy S3 Mini Titanium also is tempting but that would be to much to pay at the moment.
At this budget, the Windows phones make a good case for themselves if you're platform agnostic. The Lumia 620 fits right into this budget and would be my pick. If not, the Xperia J is about as good as you'll get.
Are you buying the phone outright or getting it on contract? Either way I second Marvin's recommendation of the lumia 620 ir even 720 which is still not that pricey, you may want to wait a few weeks though as Nokia have a launch scheduled for may 14th which is supposedly releasing a new phone or two.
I actually prefer the lumia 520 at the moment... Bought from CPW on PAYG with a tenner credit will set you back £99.00 at the moment... For quite a solid little package! And it's unlocked so you can chuck any old sim in...
On a budget I am going to echo everyone else and say nothing compares to the Nokia Lumias. Phenomenal phones. I'm thinking of moving from my 800 to the 720 or 920. These are the 2 models with Gorilla Glass screens IIRC. From my experience the Sony Xperias aren't very solidly built if that matters to you.
the 720 isn't really an upgrade from an 800 (I have an 800 to put my perspective in there), you should wait for the 'lumia 928' which is being released on the 14th of May.
I would highly recommend going second hand at this price point. Getting a preloved higher end model in good condition will give you a substantially better experience than a new low mid-range phone. The Xperia J will be laggy as hell to use compared to your Desire.
I agree with Shirty, if you want the best you can possibly get with your budget you may need to look at a second hand model. If you do insist on buying new however, I would probably go for something like Huawei Ascend G330 which come in at just over your budget.
im on PAYG with Orange or EE if you like now so i would buy the phone outright, i'll wait a bit longer to see. My family have now said they could pay towards one as an early birthday gift as my current phone is playing up so budget might go up to around to £100-200. I forgot if i get it from the Orange shop i get a "Phone Fund", its money towards a new phone every time i top up so i'll have to see how much i have. I'll have to try a Windows phone to see what its like. I got What Mobile and it says to avoid the Xperia J. if i was to stick with android, with my PF i might see how much i could get off the Xperia SP. http://shop.orange.co.uk/mobile-phones/sony-xperia-sp-black I will give the Nokia 620 a test when im next in store. Thx guys
With my PF i could get £14 at present and i can get Top Cash Back of £10.10 with a phone over £150. that would make the SP just over but i'll see how much i get towards the phone to see if its affordable.
Get a Huawei G300. Ebay link. Unlocked, rooted and has Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3 on it. Newer screen than the old stock G300 too. For that price it is about the best you are gonna get.
I have the Lumia 620 and it is a great phone. However I have one real problem with it and that is the fact that there are no call/sms blockers available at the moment and Nokia unlike some Samsung windows 8 phones have not built one in. The only app I've seen is purely for the Chinese market. If I'd have known this I may have gone for another android phone. Edit: if someone does know of an app I've missed I'd be grateful (sorry, not trying to hijack the thread).
Orange san diago isnt a bad phone for the price. You can also get 10% discount on p&g if your with the civil service or 25% on pay monthly
