Right, so I decide to download a N64 emulator and some games. (Dont worry legal people, I have the real ones. My N64 is just dead)

I soon realized how much the internet has changed in the past couple of years. I'm not trying to say I'm an 'old-timer' or 'hardcore L33t net user'; I remember 4-5 years ago, when you searched for something, one of the first 10 pages would have whatever you were looking for.

But now? I never realized there were so many scamming, penny pinching sods out there. All I got on my 'N64 Roms' search were blantant lies, telling you that 'our site has all the roms in the world!', and then you have to VOTE for them on about 5 different sites, after which you get a nice message telling you 'sorry, try again. Our servers our busy!'. Oh and a lot of porn.

I have never used such a torrent of filthy language before in my life. Bear in mind that this was after searching through about 10 different pages; which all linked back and forth across each other, and the voting sites. Also, having a polite 'donations' section is Ok, but there are people out there who are just (to coin a phrase?) E-Beggers. They live off banners and the 0.00001p they get each time someone links them to a big site full of links.

This has GOT to stop. I found it easy, yet frustratingly boring to navigate out of the cack and find the quality sites. But what about techno-phobes like my old folks? Granted, they won't be looking for the same things I am, but I can see it happening. This kind of s--t makes the rest of us internet users look bad, and in fact, the whole world. How much technology do we have now, and how much to we use it for generally nice causes? Let me see, power plant, or atomic weapon. Hmmmmm. I bet it was the same b------ who decided to use the internet to p--- people like me off.

So that one problem can be used to sum up the human race? Weird. But seriously, I hate cack like that, which seems to serve no useful purpose- other than make some little git 1p every week.

EDIT : And the one I thought was OK doesnt work.
(Goes off to quiet room to batter own head with shovel.)

    ---RANT OFF---

No piracy talk please, it is a bannable offence

But i completely understand what your ranting about, it's virtually impossible to find anything these days unless you know the "pr0n/hax0rz/ripoff" site key words to avoid using.

The emulation program that is considered 'best' for N64 is called "Project 64"

Not sure if it's ok to say that or not...Mods please understand I'm just trying to help.

    http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/n64/project64.html

That is a link that will take you to a page that has all sorts of information on emulation and what programs work best, etc.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Another thing that really pisses me off is search engine hijack sites. Type in some words in Google. Any words --and Presto! The first five links are "Find the best price"/"Find more on..." sites that generated a page on-the-spot, with your search terms (and lots and lots of links to various commercial ripoff sites). Often they don't even vaguely relate to what you were searching for ("Find the best price for Nonlinear Dynamics")-- it's just a way to get you on their site, where they then spam you to death.

Can't wait for the next Googledance to sort this one out. :grr:
