News Another day, another delay for XP SP2

Now I know this will come as a blow to all of you, but take it on the chin eh?

Microsoft has delayed the automatic distribution of a major upgrade to Windows XP Professional for at least another week.

The 272MB enterprise version of SP2 was released earlier this month and a smaller consumer version - weighing in at around 80MB - was due to be available through Windows Update on 16 August. Under the latest revision of Microsoft's timetable, the update won't be available to users of XP Professional until at least 25 August, AP reports. Win XP Home users with automatic update switched on will be fed the update beginning later today (18 August). Home users running beta versions of SP2 have already been updated.

And the much vaunted security upgrades that SP2 supplies have already had to be patched!

 

hmm...so glad I work at a school that already has it...hehehe

 

Will us Windows Pro users have to get the big version or can we make do with the lighter download? Not that it is a problem to get it or anything, was just wondering that's all

 

If you can wait, the Express download will be available soon on Automatic Update or Windows Update. Currently it's only Home users which can get it.

Or you could go to the page here to download it if you can't wait. SP2 is available for manual download for all XP based OSes.

 

The patch is a simple, non-essential TCP/IP patch.
