I'm looking to build a new system, and I am wondering which would be the best GFX card to get. I'll be running WinXP and Linux on the same system (Dual boot until I can sort out Xen installs of Windows), so DX10 is not important at the moment.

I've got a choice of the following:

EVGA e-GeForce 7800 GS CO Copper Version 256MB AGP
    Inno3D 7900GS 256MB 256bit iChill Cooler DVI PCI-E Graphics card
XFX 8600GT 256MB DDR3 XXX edition DVI PCI-E Graphics Card
    Innovision 3D 8600GTS 256MB DVI PCI-E Graphics Card
and various 1950Pro, XT and GT cards (all 256MB) from Ebuyer.

The budget is up to £110 (inc VAT) and I am wondering what you all would recommend.

I was thinking of the 8600GT or GTS (IF I can find an online retailer with it for less than £110) but I read somewhere that the 78/7900 and 1950's are better for non-DX10 games. Is this right?

    TIA

    Andy

Well, the 8600gts offers fairly good video acceleration. So if you like to watch HD video that would be a good choice.

Oh, what I forgot to mention is that I am going to be using my olf TFT monitor with a max res of 1280x1024 (17") and I don't watch HD DVDs (don't own a HD TV).
