Yet another one of those Photographic Days out!

Yes people, its time yet again for one of my Photographic days out! These pictures were taken yesterday, Sunday 18th April 2003.

The HSS that goes between Holyhead and Ireland in 1 hour 20 minutes... that's fast! I was kinda miffed that I just missed it leaving! It would have been awsome to get a shot of it leaving from the breakwater.

A somewhat slower ship leaving the harbour! :)

This thing is so quick, that in the time it took me to take the first picture of it and the picture of the ship above, it had moved so far I had to use the maximum optical and digital zoom on the camera! You can acctually get behind the HSS in a a canoe and ride its wake all the way to ireland! Insane!

One of the Holyhead lifeboats coming back to base. (sorry about the quality, this too is on max optical/digital zoom)

This is what I drove to Holyhead for... South Stack (it's about 30 miles away from where I live) this place always gets the brunt end of bad winds!

    ---

Be warned, there are a lot of "rocky" pictures in this adventure!!!

South Stack lighthouse again, you have to walk down about 350 steps to get there, it looks like a mini Alcatraz doesn't it?!?

    ---

Here I am, risking my life trying to get a decent shot ;)

These sharp rocks seemed to be taking a big beating, I was supprised they were still sharp too...

This cove provided diving birds with plenty of fish by looks of the sheer number of them diving into it.

Recognise it? A huge flat wave rolled in and raised the level by about 2 meters, those sharp rocks are under the water there!

The cliffside took some immense beating too!

    ---

Caught a nice wave crashing in this shot.. i wish digitals took instant piccys, not with a second delay or whatever it is... :(

    ---

There was crashing waver and whirlpools everywhere here, you go in there, you aint coming out!

    ---

These rocks are acctually in the channel between Anglesey and South Stack taken off the bridge, once a year there is a 9 foot standing wave in this channel and it is a mecca for canoeists... this coming from the same guy who rode the HSS wave to ireland.

The shoreline round the other side.

    Fantastic views.

    Crash!!!

    ---

That's the bridge you have to cross, and you can see the steps leading back up, going back up was a killer, the wind was against me most of the way up!

    Definately Alcatraz!!!

    ---

I even caught the light on it!

thus concluding yet another Photographic Day out!
