A new problem occurs. My best friends rig crashed(windows was wiped). Don't know why and don't know how. I tried reinstalling windows, but when the installation gets to the point of actually installing windows(where u set time and date) an error occurs:"Biosinfo.inf file is either corrupt or dose not exist. Please press R to repair this problem". If I press R then the pc reboots by itself, leading me 2 the same problem as before. I tried the debugging console 2 see if the file is there....and there it was.

Could the solution be 2 take out the battery from the motherboard? Plz ppl need help on this one to :)

So you get this message when you see the Languages & Keyboard setup screen. (about 35mins left on the setup)?

Is this a repair or a fresh install of XP?

Make a copy of the CD & try that. I once had a laptop that refused to install XP from a geniune Windows XP Pro disk, but when a made a copy it was fine. (You are not doing anything illegal if you do this)

    Berry.

Are you actually booting off the CD?

Make sure that the CD is set to boot first in the bios boot order.

Various reasons for this error can be found here:

Just out of curiosity, if you unplug the HDD (just remove the PSU 4 pin molex) do you get the error message or does the Windows XP installation start (with the XP disk in the drive).
